Thrifted Treasure: estate sale, thrift store, and the vintage bazaar

I had a wonderful weekend of thrift fun. I went to a couple of estate sales looking for cheap step stools. Exciting right? Not really but look what I left with? I thought these were a bargain at $20 each.  Already framed and they match perfectly with the rest of our artwork. I made a quick trip to Unique's 50% off sale. I picked up lots but left with little. I edited a lot to get the checkout with 2 items. My plan is to remove 2 things from my closet. I'm trying to "do better". Keep  the purging constant. My super petite thrift haul included a leather and snakeskin shoulder / clutch bag ($3.50) and brand new pink Unlisted flats ($3). I also went to The Vintage Bazaar with a couple of members of the Thriftanista Social Club.  SN: You don't have to be local to join ! I bought nothing. I really did just browse. Oh wait, I stuffed my face with wild boar tacos and mini donuts. I left the house without eating and therefore scarfed my...

Style File: Statement necklace, little white blouse, floral capris

Look who made it out of the house? I'm wearing clothes that aren't dust covered and somewhat tattered too.  I spent some time exploring the neighborhood today and this is.. What I Wore A big ol' statement necklace bought at the mall. It makes music when I walk. No tip toeing around a sleeping baby in this thing. A little white blouse bought during my last thrift haul. It is now my anytime, anywhere top. It's easy to throw on and will match everything. T-shirts used to have this job but my belly could use the extra room. This is what happens when you stop working out, huh? Floral capris are still around and in heavy rotation. The DIY loafers are still spotted but I have a redesign in mind. I just have to uncover my crafting stuff. aviator sunglasses // unknown / thrifted necklace // Wet Seal / mall little white blouse // thrifted floral capris // Eric Casual / thrifted loafers // Nordstrom / thrifted

Thriftanista Style File: Betseyville chain strap bag

I'm dropping in with a weekend casual look from a couple of weeks ago. I have yet to unpack or "dewrinkle" my clothes. Maybe I should just start over with all new (thrifted) clothes! Kidding. Somewhat. I'm 2 blocks away from one of my frequently visited thrift stores. I can drop in everyday! I'm trying to hold off until all the boxes are unpacked and purged. I wanted to do this before the move but of course, I procrastinated. Now the unpacking is going so slowwww.  This look is really casual with the "hamminess" of my purse. The Betseyville purse is all pizzazz and sparkle! Hot pink. Rose shape. Chain. Sequins and beads. It's a party waiting to happen well maybe not the chain although for some folks....nevermind. I'm all thrifted! This is becoming the norm now. I buy then purge most of the time. I have such a short attention span when it comes to personal style. I like to change it up often. Now you tell me. What have you thrifted? sunglasses // ...

Style File: Ruffle bib dress and gold frame aviators

I'm still in a sea of boxes but now the location has changed. Why won't these boxes unpack themselves? I don't want a repeat of our last move where we had an unpacked box in the living room for an entire year. The night before move day I attended an event with girlgetalife.  Two hours turned into 5 hours. I stayed out late and had a few glasses of wine. That was a bad move but I had so much fun. I wore an outfit that I've posted before. I thought I was switching it up by wearing different shoes but it turns out I had the same shoes on in this post  from April. My accessories are different though. I'm not wearing the chevron coat and thick tights. I like pieces I can wear year round. I love the ruffle bib front. It's like I'm wearing a big statement necklace. I love those and will have to keep my eyes peeled while out shopping...and back to what I wore.. I am also wearing one of my latest thrifted finds -- aviator sunglasses. It's so weir...

Thrifted Treasure: vibrant things!

Some days I actually do go to the thrift store with intentions of just looking. I tell myself I won't buy unless it's really really special. REALLY special and then I get the fever. I start putting stuff in my cart. I become attached and can't leave without my merch. That's what happened last week. I'm in the middle of a move (closer to the thrift store, yay!) so I definitely should not bring more stuff to pack! Oh well, I'm an addict. I can't help myself. I paid $20 and this is.... What I Thrifted colorful pants Turquoise tapered jeans from Dana Buchman on the left.  Brightly colored floral pants from Alberto Makali on the right. I think I will "skinny" them both for a more current look. I love the high waists and bright colors. tees Sequin shouldered tee from Boston Proper, a brand new orange tank from Old Navy, and a silky boxy white blouse. All have great little details that oomph them up a bit. Gold sequins on the tee. The tank is plain but th...

Thriftanista Style File: Zara floral peplum

Feel free to ignore me and keep an eye on V. She photo bombed the entire post. My outfit is completely thrifted.  I'm wearing the floral Zara top from the $10 bag sale. I just love that it has a peplum and a tie front. My shorts are from a shorts haul last year when I was on the  hunt for colored walking shorts. The loafers are a DIY project. I added spots to give them a leopard look. I'm ready to transform them again though. I have some ideas... I wonder if she's instructing bear on how to get to the ball. She is obsessed with it and tries to free it every time we leave the building. she's done with it going to play found a puddle to splash just rude fini (the only pic without her in it BUT there's her stroller)

Playing dress up with vintage

I had about 20 minutes of daylight to myself so I decided to play a little dress up. I was also in kind of a crappy mood and playing in my closet makes me feel better. The place is a disaster area right now. We're in the process of moving so there are boxes everywhere and of course, Hurricane Violet blows through all day, every day. Try to ignore all that and just look at how cute the vintage dress is. I had never actually tried it on. It's from the $10 bag sale . I bought it for the Etsy shop so I wasn't concerned with how it would look on me. I just put it on the mannequin.  I bought the purse during a Thriftanista Social Club meetup at Unique. It's another item waiting to be added to Etsy. Soon come. There's no story, rhyme or reason to the pics. I'm just having some mama time.  Isn't this what you do with your free time?
