11 months: Moving Along

She loves Daddy - stalks him as soon as he enters the room. peek-a-boo - she loves to cover her eye or both eyes, the side of her face, or hiding her head behind objects. She does it while she's nursing, while I change her diaper, when eating, basically all day every day. clapping - She is so amazed by all her hands can do right now. the dishwasher - still her BFF water - First time in a pool and she loved it. I have video. It's kinda long though so I want to edit it. Hopefully I'll learn how to do that before her 18th birthday. :P books, specifically Petting Farm - our very loose reading of the book cracks her up. She sleeps Nothing new here. One night she slept from 7pm to 4am straight. This was the longest stretch of sleep she's had in awhile. I gave some serious thought to what I did that was different from all the other nights. I did slip into her room that night around 11p and that woke her a bit but she fell back asleep with a pacif...

Thrifting Thursday: Make It Work

I love wearing tunics whether they're in or out of style. They're comfortable and easy to slip on. I was drawn to this one because of the tri-colored stripes with silver thread running between them. Orange is my color. It adds a lovely warm glow to my skin. There are also sequins around the v-neck ( sequins make me happy ) and long bell sleeves. The sleeves always dip into the water when I'm washing my hands, dishes, baby, and such so I usually roll the sleeves up. This is my first time tucking a tunic. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I had too much volume though when paired with the "skirt" which is actually a dress. Also thrifted because of the great color. It's a tube dress with a cute 70-ish screen print on it. I've never worn it as a dress because a) my shoulders and arms/shoulders/back are too thick for full exposure and b) I failed to notice a tiny whole that's just not worth fixing. It will probably be returned to the thrift s...

Thrifting Thursday: A Bit of Sunshine

V has a meltdown every time I take her to a thrift store and she has no interest when I catwalk all my purchases. Rude baby. I forgot I have a blog and I can share them with the world (or at least the handful of people who stop by here). :) I found this dress at Village Discount Outlet. I was prepared to leave it behind since I'm not looking for anymore dresses. I love the color. I tried it on and loved the fit so much. Its petite sized so the length works really well for my short legs. Most dresses don't hit me at the right length. It has pockets. Love. Yes, that's where my hands are hidden in the picture.  The dress also has a button front (great for nursing), mandarin collar, and pintucks on the sleeves and bodice. The belt was missing but I think it looks great with my pink belt (another thrift store find). I don't remember what I paid but $3.00 or less is what I normally spend per item when thrifting. It looks like I have a goiter on my neck but I don't that...

Wordless Wednesday - There Goes My Baby

Road Trip

Look at those itty bitty teeth. What I've learned on V's first road trip: Just because you've timed the drive to coincide with naptime doesn't mean the nap will occur. V slept about 30 minutes and that was before we hit the highway. She was cranky and wanted out for the remainder of the trip. Static on the radio is the best for soothing babies. V cannot cope if someone is in the backseat with her. I need a better wet bag and storage for cloth diapers if I'm going to travel with them. When I removed the hot (90 degree heat) soiled dirty dipes from the car. My o' my! The stench! I also had to carry an extra bag filled with diapers for the trip. Babies need a whole lot of extra. One night stay and there were 5 bags for all of us! V is a wild sleeper. She was perpendicular at one point and then shifted to a position with her butt in my chest. She also crawls in her sleep.  If we were regular co-sleepers we would need a california king. Showering while holding a baby...

Shoe Style Saturday: Caged Wedge

I bought these in my 2nd trimester. I felt great and was looking forward to rocking these with my hot preggo bod and then the 3rd trimester happened and these used were put in the back of the closet. I wore them once on my birthday last year. My birthday last year. I've worn them more this year but I still haven't mastered strolling and babywearing in heels.

Baby Sign Language - Maziwa!

Ms. V's first signing word is......... Milk! Is that a surprise? I'm not sure she knows to ask for it by making the symbol but she does know Maziwa (swahili for milk) is equal to the sign for milk. Awwwww. I love her. Signing Mamas, is this how it works? I've been directing her to the milk every time she makes the sign.

Nail Polish Love - The 80s Called....

Sinful Color's Neon Melon Great color but I had to apply 3 coats and it still wasn't very opaque. Extremely light and watery. It chipped and lifted within a day because of all the coats I had on. I really want this to work. I love it! Next time I will add a thicker polish underneath. Neon polish anyone?

Brain Dump II

We need to get out more. I haven't gone to a meetup in a while because it seems V picks up a cold after then she will give it to Him. Baby cold and man cold? No thanks. I think it's making her a real Clingy McClinggenbottom though. I went to the funeral of a family member last week and really liked that the service truly celebrated her life. Totally slacking on workouts. I watched Dogtooth yesterday. Wow. I have never seen anything like it. If you like weird, watch this one! This scene is hilarious. The music is different from the actual film but giggle worthy anyway. V can't be clingy when I take her for a ride in the stroller. Getting ready to go out is a hassle though. Me taking a shower and putting on clothes is obviously too long for us not to touch. Last night I went on strike and didn't feed V from 11p to 5a. Rough. Night. Purchased unsweetened coconut milk for the first time. It's much more "milk" like than almond. It's my new ...

Wordless Wednesday - Summertime

We are outside enjoying the sunshine and warm weather.

Wordless Wednesday - Mirror Mirror On the Wall

I can see behind me. High Five! Is that...Me? There's another me. Isn't that fantastic?

Nail Polish Love - Barbie Pink and A Splash of Champagne

The title is not really the names of the polishes pictured but I think that's what they should be called. Don't you think? Zoya's Starla on it's own is not very exciting. I've worn it before . I used Sinful Color's A Slice to Go as the first coat color. It's more opaque than the Zoya polish. I got that perfect shade of Barbie pink I wanted to achieve. The one sparkly is Wet n Wild Sparked. I couldn't resist. I am addicted to glitter polish. It's such a bear to remove it though.
