Iris Apfel is My Fashion Spirit Animal

I didn't necessarily need an alpaca poncho for my closet but I'm glad it's there. This is why I can't do a capsule closet . I like my oddball pieces. They help me tap into my inner Iris Apfel. She's my fashion spirit animal and she inspires me with her wise words and stylish ways. If you didn't already know, Iris is a 94 years young fashion beast with fierce thrift shopping skills and a fearless attitude. Today's outfit reminds me of why I love her style so much.  I was apprehensive about the poncho with the weird animals all over it. Bought it anyway and I love it. I was unsure about the wolf earrings when I thrifted them but they tickled my fancy and I bought them and the matching bracelet too.

Is a Capsule Closet Right for You

We are about a month away from spring and it's time to start pulling out those warm weather clothes. This spring you may want to consider a capsule closet.  A capsule closet is a collection of clothing made up of a few interchangeable pieces from which a number of outfits can be created. Determine if it's the right move for you and tips for building the perfect capsule in this Mode sponsored post.

Thrift Stores Make Old Fashion New Again

Dare I say there's no such thing as old fashioned anymore. The fashion don'ts of yesterday are no longer a thing. We're in more of a do as you like era and I like it. If it looks good to you, go for it. That attitude has made thrift store shopping a lot more trendy.

How to Get Fit When You Hate Exercise

I'm still plugging away at my fitness and weight loss goals on my vision board . My weight hasn't dropped significantly. I've lost 4 pounds and I'm still carrying a bit of "holiday" weight. My clothes are fitting better though and I've noticed some changes health wise. My resting heart rate is lower so that's a sure sign of better fitness. My BMI is now in a better place to combat high blood pressure too.

Thrifted and Quilted

The majority of my closet is either old or thrifted. I've had this blouse for at least a decade. I'm surprised it's held up this long. I basically keep it around because I am black blouse deficient. I hold on to for the times like this when I really want all black as a background for a statement piece. I wanted the quilted Floreat skirt from my last thrift haul  to be the full show.

Full to Fitted Thrift Store Dress DIY

It doesn't happen too often but every once in a while I thrift something that's a little too big in the hips. Super rare. When I tried this full skirted velour dress on, it seemed fine. Maybe it was my under layer bulking me up when I tried it on at the thrift store mirror.

J. Crew at Goodwill

I'm so happy to have discovered this J. Crew dress at Goodwill for only $7. The retail price was $188 and it's still going for about $50 in online thrift stores.  There's so much to love and even style elements I wouldn't normally be a fan of are working too. It's a classic.

Shower Spa Essentials: DIY Shower Fizzies

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #MyBioreFizz #CollectiveBias I cannot believe we are in the home stretch and winter will be ending very soon. I've been prepping myself for spring by cleaning closets and dropping some of those winter hibernation pounds. All of the movement and bustle makes me crave a nice day at the spa. Fortunately, I can mini spa in my shower anytime I want with an aromatherapy shower fizzies and these key spa essentials.

Thrift Haul: What $90 Buys at Goodwill

It's been two months since my last thrift store visit. Therefore, I went on kind of a bender with a pretty expensive $89 thrift haul ! My last Goodwill trip was months before that. There are closer and cheaper stores near me. Venturing out to a far away location while V was in school turned out to be very fruitful though. I had a lot of designer finds and my total retail value is over $700!

Why You Should Buy Thrift Store Jeans

Just when I had given up on low rise jeans, I thrift a pair of Madewell black skinnies. Black jeans have been on my list for a while. My last Goodwill visit netted this pair and two others that were equally as fabulous. Madewell jeans are indeed made well.
