Since I'm playing around with winter layering , I've been going through my stash of summer clothes and rediscovering so many gems. I had completely forgotten about the Rachel Roy dress. I am in no way a label whore but it is a nice feeling to save big on designer clothes by purchasing them in thrift stores. I discovered this Rachel Roy jersey dress at Goodwill. It's about 5 years old. It's a basic sheath with a cute and colorful bamboo print. I paid $7 for it. The retail value was over $200.

I had no idea I would be so fond of the little black dress from my last thrift haul . This is my first time wearing it other than trying it on over my clothes at the thrift store mirror. It's a great fitting little vintage sheath dress. I'm looking forward to getting lots of wear out of it.

The struggle is very real when trying to beat the cold and look stylish in winter. I've become quite fond of wearing layers. It's can actually feel warmer than tossing a loose fitting puffy coat over a single layer. Also, it's a lot more fun to play around with different textures and allow your outfit to be seen.

To be chic is to be stylish and elegant. Shopping at thrift stores has certainly helped me make better style choices when it comes to to the clothes I wear. I learned to appreciate and find the good in several styles of clothing from several different decades. I'm not concerned with the year an item was made. It's the quality I'm looking at. The designer isn't so important either. Although, it can be an indicator of good quality.

It seems I will not be able to hibernate like I'd really like to do. Even though winter showed up about a week ago, I'm already over it. I was rather excited about wearing my Christmas gift from my mom though -- an incredibly warm and wind blocking faux shearling fur vest. I'm currently binge watching the old school soap opera Dynasty. My vest reminds me of the big ol' coats worn on the show.  Rather in elegant gown going to the gala or taking a trip to the stables in jeans, Krystal and Alexis were all wrapped up in a humongous fur coat. You can't help but bring the drama when wearing animal pelts.

One thing I don't talk much about in the whole thrift shopping spectrum is the closet clean out. Mainly because I don't do it nearly enough. While I'd like to go all minimalist with my wardrobe, I can't stop shopping and finding new and interesting things to wear at the thrift store. Therefore, I have to weed at least four times a year.

I took a gamble when I decided to thrift an olive colored skirt. Drab olive, khaki, and doo doo brown are on my DO NOT thrift list. At the time I thought I was doing the right thing and building my wardrobe basics with a classic skirt shape. Now that I have the skirt on, I realize that I kinda loathe this color. Look at 2016 already providing valuable insight. Ha! Live and learn. I'm hoping to become even more discerning with my thrifting choices this year. Really all of my shopping choices. No rationalizing. Only buy what I truly love.
