Thriftanista Style File: Zara floral peplum

Feel free to ignore me and keep an eye on V. She photo bombed the entire post. My outfit is completely thrifted.  I'm wearing the floral Zara top from the $10 bag sale. I just love that it has a peplum and a tie front. My shorts are from a shorts haul last year when I was on the  hunt for colored walking shorts. The loafers are a DIY project. I added spots to give them a leopard look. I'm ready to transform them again though. I have some ideas... I wonder if she's instructing bear on how to get to the ball. She is obsessed with it and tries to free it every time we leave the building. she's done with it going to play found a puddle to splash just rude fini (the only pic without her in it BUT there's her stroller)

Playing dress up with vintage

I had about 20 minutes of daylight to myself so I decided to play a little dress up. I was also in kind of a crappy mood and playing in my closet makes me feel better. The place is a disaster area right now. We're in the process of moving so there are boxes everywhere and of course, Hurricane Violet blows through all day, every day. Try to ignore all that and just look at how cute the vintage dress is. I had never actually tried it on. It's from the $10 bag sale . I bought it for the Etsy shop so I wasn't concerned with how it would look on me. I just put it on the mannequin.  I bought the purse during a Thriftanista Social Club meetup at Unique. It's another item waiting to be added to Etsy. Soon come. There's no story, rhyme or reason to the pics. I'm just having some mama time.  Isn't this what you do with your free time?

Thriftanista Style File: tie front shirt, high waist shorts

I think shorts are the perfect compromise for dress loving mamas on the playground. Even though walking shorts are pretty casual, you can spice it up with accessories. My "flare" today is bright purple lips, bright nails, a tie front shirt, and a couple of bracelets.  The shorts I'm wearing are from a thrift haul last year. I love the bright color and I especially love the high waist. I saw the length on the zipper and knew they were a winner! My navel is as snug as a bug in the rug. SN: Shorts would probably look better if I took the time to iron the very wrinkly material. One day.....

Thriftanista Style File: Little black dresses

I had a great weekend. How about you? I had two very special events and somehow I ended up wearing little black dresses to both. While going through my closet, I realized I have a lot of black dresses. I find them to be perfect for when you just don't know what to wear,  when you're bloated,  when you want to wear a lot of bright accessories or all of the above. It's pretty much the everything dress. However, I do think it's time to clean the closet and donate a couple. My first LBD of the weekend was worn to my HS reunion. I cannot believe I've been out of high school 20 years! Wow. The dress is from last week's haul . It's a really nice thick knit fabric. It has an empire waist with a side zipper. Apparently zippers makes the difference with empire waist and my body shape. Standard jersey dresses never fit under bust on me so I rarely buy them. The empire waist is so great for accentuating the waist though.  Through thrifting adventures I'...

On the road to even skin tone

Before I show you the raw real close-up of my face, here's a picture of what my skin normally looks like in pictures. I absolutely cannot have the lead picture be the one of me in my bare face. Now take a look at what my REAL skin looks like. It's dry and flaky skin and always decorated with post breakout discoloration spots. I've used creams in the past to try and fade the spots but I think the hydroquinone was making my face even more susceptible to breakouts creating a never ending cycle. Lately I just cleanse, moisturize and go. I was obsessing over the spots a bit last week when the universe put the Makari line in front of me. Well look at that! A whole line of products to even and brighten skin tone. I had heard of Makari via twitter so I visited the website to check them out. I was apprehensive about using skin brightening creams because I naturally assumed it would be some kind of skin bleaching formula. I was pleased to read that M...

Thrifted Treasure: Salvation Army $10 Bag Sale

Salvation Army had a $10 bag sale at the Fullerton location. Everyone familiar with how bag sales work? Receive bag when entering store, fill it, pay $10. Hurrah! I wasn't sure about going because the sale was on a Friday and Saturday. I was only able to check it out on Saturday. I thought I was going to find mob action but it was pretty quiet when I went in the evening. The pickings were a bit slim. New racks did come out occasionally which was good. There still wasn't much to look at. Half of my haul came from the cast off pile of a woman who had a completely loaded cart to look through. Ever have cart envy? I totally wanted to shop her cart. I did manage to put 16 items in my bag so everything cost me roughly  $.63 cents a piece!!!!! What I Thrifted Floral print vintage dress It's home sewn and has some loose stitches but I'm going to fix it up. I just love the shape and mutton sleeves. Look at that pussy bow!  black embellished vintage ...
