And just like that, the time has come for the wearing of the sequins. I absolutely don't need a reason to pull out the shiny orbs but it's comforting to know that sequins will be shining bright into the new year.

This is an extremely easy diy project. I've had this blazer in my closet forever. I never throw away blazers and jackets. I keep them because they're a closet staple. This one was too big then too small and now the fit is just right. It is rather structured for my relaxed mostly casual closet so I added a playful touch to it with embroidered patches.

I found a great vintage dress just sitting in my closet. Last year, I wore it as a top with jeans  and this year I'm loving it as a dress. The dress had broken stitches everywhere and the fabric isn't the greatest. I stitched over a lot of the seams and it's stronger than ever. I feel good about wearing it sans pants.

I cannot deal with this cold snap. I'm hanging out indoors mainly in velour muumuu and sweats. There's nothing to see or do with my thrifted wardrobe right now. While keeping cozy inside, I've been taking a few sips of my homemade Irish Cream to keep me warm. It's delicious and creamy. It's the perfect drink to enjoy in front of the fireplace underneath a thick blanket.

I make the toilet sparkle. Why can't I shine too?

One of the things I constantly run into when buying jewelry is that bangle style bracelets never fit my wrists. I have tried to make it work with the ones I've collected over the years from thrift stores. It's not working. They just hang down awkwardly on my hand and get in the way. I'm also deeply in love with African print fabric and I have a ton in my stash. In a win win for fashion and functionality, I made bracelets that are pliable and don't fall down into my hand.

This is the outfit you wear when the rain finally arrives and plans on sticking around for awhile. Big old sweatshirts are perfect for cold, wet days. This one is a classic Hanes. I totally could have bought one new for about $7 bucks on Amazon but I was at the thrift store. It was about half the price of retail. It's not a huge savings but I'll take it!

My fancy dress holiday parties are few and far between since I no longer work outside of the home. I'm more likely to be invited to small gatherings of family and friends. This outfit or some version of it will be in heavy rotation now until the new year. Thanks to Belk for introducing to the modern southern style of Crown & Ivy clothing .

Atlanta weather isn't quite ready for a winter coat but you do need a light layer. The kimono was super fun to make so this time I made a diy duster using some of the same steps. I used a dashiki african wax print from my stash. The duster is similar to the kimono. The length is a bit longer. It's a little more fitted. The sleeves aren't as wide and I added a facing to the collar.
