Thrifted Treasure: (mini) Thrift Haul

It's been over a week since I've stepped foot in a thrift store. My goal is to refrain until the June 10th $10 bag sale at Unique. Wish me luck! These are the items from my last trip. My friend asked me to go shopping and of course I couldn't say no even though I had been twice in the same week already. What I Thrifted Faux snakeskin peep toe pumps. I thought these were really cute and shelled out the $7 even though it's quite expensive for thrift store prices. I get home and walk around and hear this awful noise. These are the noisiest shoes ever! I hope they will quiet down after I wear them a few times. SN: You have to pay extra for a very clean and well organized store.  Is it like that in your area? Brand new shorts from Express.  Another thrift store budget buster from Goodwill. Two tees because I don't have very many in my closet.  The pink one was brand new with tags still on. Old school polka dot top w...

Don't Sweat the Small Stuff for Moms #dontsweatmoms #giveaway

I was selected to be a Don't Sweat Mom and be a part of the Don't Sweat Moms community. As a part of the community, I received Kristine's Carlson's latest book Don't Sweat the Small Stuff for Mom . It's a cute little book and an easy quick read. The chapters are a couple of pages long each dealing with a different "don't sweat" topic. One of the chapters I really enjoyed was Feeling Sexy From the Inside Out . The first sentence reads "the truly confident and empowered mom shines from within". Since becoming a mom, my confidence level has definitely taken a boost. I feel prettier and more accepting of myself. Evidence being pictures of myself plastered all over this blog. Way back in my sewing days, I would take pictures of what I sewed and chop the head off! I'm kind of a shrinking violet and to put myself out there in such a way was definitely not comfortable for me. Motherhood has changed me and I like it. In addition to hav...

Thriftanista Style File: Mom Casual Weekend

What a lovely weekend spent with family, friends, food and drink. Violet played with her cousins and ran from her grandma, aunts, and uncles. She was armed with a mouth full of "no" whenever any adult looked like they were coming close to her. What I Wore Mom casual all weekend. I don't know why I assist on wearing white clothes around kids. Good thing I bought them specifically to dye.  Hopefully I can lighten up all the stains in the prewash. I took a picture before I left the house. I was a dirty mess a few hours later. The sweater is really interesting. It does some kind of convertible thing that I haven't quite figured out. I know that it has buttons and I can wear it upside down creating a hood.  The pink tee was brand new with tags from the thrift store. It's originally from Marshalls. I love all the bright colors in it. Draped sweater - People Like Frank (thrifted) Pink tee - Nollie (thrifted) White capris - Peck & Peck Weekend (t...

Tangerine diy dye

I took this dress from drab to fab by adding a little color. Shirt dress - LL Bean (thrifted) Floral flats - Dots   Soaking up the color on the stovetop. Oooooooh! Washed, dried, and waiting on a hanger. Ahhhhhh! POW! Much improved. (Today's backdrop includes liquor, a tripod on a table, and a naked baby.) Thrifted Treasure: Salvation Army Haul

I went thrifting twice this week and spent about $30 each visit. Over my budget by $10 both times.  I'm doing too much! This is my haul from the weekend. I went to to Salvation Army on Saturday to see if I could uncover some of those .69 tags. The color tag sale is 50% during the week and then .69 on Saturday. When Saturday roles around,  I never really find anything worth buying. I was lucky enough to find 2 this time out. Yay! What I Thrifted A Liz Claiborne Dress This is a very fitted dress with a double set of waist darts that are very flattering. The pattern is pretty too. Enlarge the pic for a better look. This shirt reminds me of the jacket I saw at Juicy Couture. The pants are old school Dana Buchman and check out that price....enough said. This is a dress from Rachel Roy's Macys line.  The price was steep but it has everything I love (draping, ruching, and animal print) and it's super soft. The Ann Taylor denim jacket is...

Thriftanista Style File: Floral Capris

I had a fabulous time at Juicy Couture's Beach Weekend Packing Party. It was a great evening of food, drinks, music, and fashion. What I Wore I fell in love with these floral capris while visiting Unique's 50% off sale. I think I paid $3 (or less) for them. They fit so well that I want to trace them and use them as a pants pattern.  I wore the jacket on the right even though I liked the one on the left better. I didn't want to have to fuss with the very long sleeves on the white jacket.  Which one looks better to you? I am also wearing glasses instead of contacts. My contact lens disintegrated in my hand while I was getting ready and I have no more. I'll be wearing them until I do some research to find the cheapest exam and lenses available. White Jacket / Zebra Jacket - HM / Covington (thrifted) Black tee - DZ Floral capris - Eric Casual (thrifted) Purple pumps - Caressa (thrifted) Neon yellow nails with gold glitter. The glitter is the ...

My Mother's Day look

What I Wore I pulled out another little black dress on mother's day. I love the way this one fits. Although it feels a bit more snug since I tried it on last. OAN: I fell off the fitness wagon and I can see the effects. Argh. After brunching at Feast, I thought a button was going to pop and I only ate half a salad. The back of the dress The back of the shoes My favorite part. It's party in the front and party in the back! The entire look Little black dress - Jones New York (thrifted) Pumps - INC

Thriftanista Style File: LBD with color blocked pumps

Last week, Girl Get A Life and I went to meet up with Trina from The Baby Shopaholic . It was my first time meeting a blogger from other lands (ATL). She is so nice and and just as pretty in person. We talked, drank martinis, and got manicures.  It was a really fun night that ended early as I was tipsy teetering on drunk! I had 2 drinks. That's my normal max but I failed to eat properly for the alcohol. Big mistake. Blecccch. What I Wore Blazer - H&M (thrifted) Black dress - Max & Cleo (thrifted) Color blocked pumps - INC More pics from the night Love the vintage Betsey Johnson top.  FACT: Trina cannot take a bad picture. I just love the decor here. Obviously drunk when I chose this color. It's sparkly but practically the  same color as my skin. Girl Get A Life couldn't resist going under the bonnet. How was your weekend? Mothers Day? Kid or kidless Mothers Day activities?
