Thriftanista Style File: Yellow shirt, grey jeans, floral flats

Hello Spring! Well not quite. It's a bit of a dreary day today so I added a bit of sunshine to my day with a yellow shirt and floral patterned shoes.  The jacket and scarf are so necessary today plus another jacket, socks, and rain boots! I had to change it up a bit before venturing outside. It was chilly. Thriftanista Style File: Hot pink blouse and leather vest

On Tuesday, I went on a momcation with Lady Terror . I lucked up on screening passes to see The Five Year Engagement. Afterwards, we went to the super adorable Beauty Bar to partake of the hosted bar while  perched on a barstool dancing the night away. I love how djs play all the songs I enjoy at the beginning of a set. A great mix of old school r&b, hip-hop and reggae and then they move to the new music that I no longer understand. I can have my party and be home by midnight.  My party girl mama self likes her beauty sleep. What I Wore This outfit doesn't thrill me. It's doing a lot and not in a good way. Vest closed over blouse? No bueno. All of the black against the pink weren't working for me either. My shoes looked blah. I didn't have time to change though. I was running late to catch the free movie. Priorities.  Since I'm trashing this outfit, I may as well discuss the pant and toe issue again. I look in the mirror, no toe. When I lo...

Thriftanista Style File: Floral pants

I had a very busy weekend with Thriftanista Social Club . On Saturday we attended the Modern Vintage Chicago's Spring Clothing and Jewelry Explosion. Three floors of vintage. Every stall had unique pieces. There was a ton of merchandise to see including clothing, jewelry, fabric, magazines, sunglasses, refashioned vintage, furniture, and so much more! Wow. and this is What I Wore. The pants are thrifted. I'm loving the floral pants that are trending right now so I thought I would give a try. The pants I found are great. High waist.  No waistband. Ankle length and tapered.  Really comfortable to wear except with tights. Oye bad move on my part. I was so uncomfortable with them sticking to me all day. Other than that, I love them and I think they will work well in my summer wardrobe out at the playground. I shall buy more. Thriftanista Style File: Tulle dress, chevron coat, Weitzman pumps

Last night I attended Shecky's Girls Night Out so I wasn't able to post. This was my first time going. I had an ok time. I went solo. If I go again, I'll have to bring friends, flats, water, a snack and come earlier so I can partake of the complimentary beauty services. What I Wore I like this dress a lot. I'm sure you already know why but I'll tell you anyway. It's PURPLE. It's washable. It's cotton and comfy. It's thrifted. It's from Tulle too. I have a couple of dresses from them. The sales are very budget friendly. I also pulled out my favorite thrift store find -- the chevron jacket and the Stuart Weitzman pumps. I still don't know if I like them or not. I think it's the bow that's throwing me off. I like bows but not sure this bow belongs on this shoe. It's syrupy. Does that make any sense to you? I'm also "posed up" with my new old vintage Fendi. Every time I glance at it, I start singing LL Cool J...

Violet Says - Nix the nap

Hey Mama. Heyyyy! What's Up? Yeah I know it's nap time. How about I owe it to you?

My first clothing swap

Last weekend I went to Community Closet's Clothing Swap. The creator (Maja) is a member of the Thriftanista Social Club and invited us all to come out. This was my first time swapping and it was great. There were racks of clothing, clothes in cubby holes, accessories spread out on a table, and shoes! All for the picking as long as you brought something to swap. I must do this again. Rolling around in all the clothes. Isn't that what you do when you see a big pile of clothes? I came in with these 2 bags. I left with these. Vintage dress jeans more jeans purple silk jacket basic tank - brand new with tags super soft snakeskin turtleneck plaid pastel shirt Kensie Girl dress Forever 21 dress and bangles  This is me on the day after the swap rocking one of my new to me dress. Pensive reflection on what is going on with my chest area. Ever do any clothing swaps? Any thrifting over the weekend?

Thriftanista Style File: RACHEL Rachel Roy dress

I had a post anniversary date this week. Date #3 since V. Woohoo! We went to see Fela and it was amazing. I'm so glad we were able to go. Having seen it, I now want to: 1. Read Fela's book . 2. Visit the Shrine. 3. Learn to move my "clock" like these ladies . 4. Start a revolution -- Thrifters Unite! What I Wore I did a Salvation Army drive by over the weekend. It was on my way to my destination and I just stopped in for 30 minutes or so. I came out with this little dress from RACHEL by Rachel Roy for Macy's. The tag says x-small and I was about to put it down. I remembered my own rule and tried it on anyway. It fits and I love it. Making money thrifting

I'm going through a hustle spurt right now. One of my themes for this year is to make money on my own terms. To that effort, I give you ReGlam Vintage -- my Etsy store! Have you noticed the mini widget at the bottom of the page? It's been there a couple of weeks now. Take a look around. There's 25% off with code "windycitymama". I'm adding items slowly and some of the item specifics are still being included so if you have a question about at item just email me. My What I Wore is really just me "modeling" for the store. Looks a lot better than my floor shots. I need a mannequin in my life. WARNING: The pictures are heavily doctored for the blog because I got caught up playing in new picnik g+ creative kit. My Rosie the Riveter turban is my shower cap all tucked  and turbaned to keep my hair out the pics. Everything is thrifted except for the fabric scrap do-rag. I believe it was gifted to me. Love the color on the jacket. I don't s...

Thrifted Treasure: Salvation Army

I thrift shop a whole lot. Is that surprising to anyone? I shop by myself and now with the club. Here are some of my purchases from the past 2 weeks. Right now I'm diggin' SA and have been trying out locations I've never been to.  Little Black Dress ($5)   The fit is amazing and all of the ruching around the waist is so flattering and it has a bit of arm coverage. I love it. Little Purple Dress ($5) That is all. Not really, there's more. It's purple, has ruffles at the neckline and a banded waist, layers, and arm coverage.  Go ahead, increase the picture size on this one and check out the details. It's lovely. Floral Skirt ($3) A retro throw on skirt for strolling with V -- although she is starting to stroller protest, she wants to run! I love the big bold flowers.  Reversible Orange/Pink Skirt ($3) 2 skirts in one! J Crew Chino Jacket ($5) A neutral jacket to go with all my finds or DIY/DYE it! Do you like my finds? What have you thrifted lately?
