Thrift + Style: White Shorts

White shorts are complicated. They are not my friend. Yellow pants,  pink skirts, and other brights are more my style. Way too much drama with white. I have very few all white clothing and you will never see me at a white party dressed in all white.

I bought a $3 pair of white shorts from the thrift because...I don't know. My fashion fickle was probably all over it last year. Perhaps, I was won over by the high waist. The shorter length gives me a faux height boost too.

If this is the trend for you, Thrift It:

Whites overall can be tricky at the thrift store. Pit stains and the over bleaching tinge run rampant. Inspect white thoroughly under a light.

You definitely want to try on white shorts in the store. White isn't a very forgiving color. Black can be slimming and white...is not.

Look for thicker fabrics like canvas or denim so that your undergarments don't show.

Linen and / or silk white shorts that have be dry cleaned may not be more bang for your buck if you live in Chicago have short summers.

Stay away from front pleated white shorts unless you are a pro and they align with your vision.

You found your perfect pair? What do you do now? Style It:

Don't wear all white. If your outfit is all white, pair with a nude or natural colored shoe if you're going for an "all white" look.

When in doubt, wear black.

White pretty much matches everything. Go wild! Wear bright colors.

When styling shorts, consider the length of your shorts when choosing a top. If you're wearing short shorts, a longer top ain't a bad thing. Pair a midriff bearing top with knee length shorts. (I can't condone wearing bra tops though).

Short suits are trending right now and a white blazer would look hot with white shorts!
