Smoky Maple Roasted Brussels Sprouts
I like brussels sprouts and usually prepare them roasted with a sprinkle of salt. Violet and E are not fans so I thought I'd try a bacon like version to peak their interest. Who doesn't love meat candy? Since I was trying to keep it simple and veggie, I added a sprinkle of liquid smoke and a generous drizzle of maple syrup.
Oven Roasted Smoky Maple Brussels Sprouts
Ingredients:
1/2 lb brussels sprouts
maple syrup (to taste)
liquid smoke (to taste)
salt and pepper (to taste)
1 tsp. olive oil
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Coat brussels sprouts with oil. Season with salt and pepper. Bake in oven for 15 minutes. Remove from oven. Sprinkle with liquid smoke and a tablespoon of maple syrup. Toss and serve or put back in the oven to broil for about 30 seconds. I like a lot of crispy charred leaves on mine.
It's not uncommon for me to forget key ingredients and remember it once I've started cooking. Well on this day, I had all my ingredients for the main course, Tilapia Puttanesca, but no side dish. Once I hit the grocery store for the week I don't like to go back so I picked up sprouts at the Walgreens Food Oasis.
My local Walgreens has fresh food items like fruit, vegetables, sandwiches, and sushi and I'm glad. It's very convenient to grab a pre-prepped fresh food item when I'm short on time.
While I was there, I also picked up the photos I ordereddays ago via the Walgreens Mobile App. Since my mom doesn't live close by or use the internet very often she doesn't get to see V as much. I print photos for her periodically.
The Walgreens mobile app saves me time by allowing me to scan through my phone or Facebook photos, choose a few of my favorites, and have them printed in store all while watching a movie!
Being able to get so much out of one store is so valuable to me plus I'm earning those Balance Rewards! I'm able to knock out a few errands with one trip and get around to the fun stuff that Violet and I like to do. I can come back home and have a healthy, fresh meal ready in 30 minutes or less.
