Well look at that! More orange for my closet in the form of a mermaid maxi skirt. Indeed, orange is the new black. It's from my recent Atlanta thrift haul. It came with a big cargo pocket that had a sporty look and I was looking for casual sophistication. 

I was concerned about marks and discoloration from pocket removal but it came out fine. Since the skirt had never been washed,  I removed the pocket prewash. The inevitable color fade was even and the small needle pricks closed up. 

I wore it with my denim shirt that has graced the blog several times and sandals purchased with my gift card from DSW's Shoe Lover Party. Blue is probably the safest color to wear with orange and avoid that whole Halloween chic situation. 

I went glam with a heavy stroke of blue eyeshadow too. It's very bold. Blue eyeshadow sometimes gets a bad rap. I like it though. Lots of it.

Jet Set: Travel in Style

A great skirt deserves a great event. I wore it to So Chic Media's Jet Set: Travel in Style event where I learned about great products perfect for traveling. I was especially drawn to Coolibar's gorgeous line of sun protective hats and clothing and Sunology's sunscreen products derived from natural sources. 

While in Atlanta, my sun allergy flared up with all of the sun and heat. I had tiny bumps all over. I was ready to gnaw on my arms with my teeth by day 4 when my short fingernails weren't doing enough to soothe the itching. I was pleased to find products that could help me avoid future outbreaks.

I also learned more about Home Away's travel properties just right for group trips like a girl's getaway, large families or a thrifting road trip!

In addition to envisioning my next vacation, I inhaled Spin-Spun's natural gourmet cotton candy while admiring my fresh chemical free manicure from Noktivo Spa.
