Thrifting Requires...
Thrifting requires creativity. That's why I'm a big fan of buying the pieces you love. When you buy the pieces you love, you'll find a way to work them into your wardrobe. I found this leather trench coat 2 years ago. I wasn't sure if it was a coat or a dress. I'm still not sure. Hence, there's another dress underneath the leather.
Thrifting requires active shopping. There's a lot of choices to be made. You have to find your size. You have to find your style. You have to edit. All before purchasing because there may not be a way to return your find.
Thrifting requires dismissing labels. You're purchasing from brands over a span of time. I would never have imagined myself in young and trendy Abercrombie & Fitch until I found the safari jacket. It's also a size 12 which is not the size I consider "my size".
Thrifting requires frequency. The more you go, the more you find. Everyday there are new trends to explore.
Thrifting requires vision. You will cut down on your active shopping time if you know what you're looking for. Getting the look for less? Adding more color to your wardrobe? Need new shoes?
Thrifting requires letting go of perfection. For newbies, I think it's hard to see in the "sea". There may be clutter. There may be crazy colors and oddball distractions. There may even be dirt. It's worth it though. At least I think so.

But, man, there can be some truly great finds once you dig in... Like that leather dress/coat of yours. I love it.

And I think thrifting requires "passion". If you're passionate about thrifting, then you will do it without hesitation!
