Thrift + Style: Culottes
Culottes are one of those trends that I rock whether in or out of style. Remember the Eiffel Tower culottes? I still got them. I haven't worn them yet this summer but do expect to see them again. The pink culottes I'm currently wearing were bought last year but this is my first time wearing them. They require ironing therefore they instantly become to cumbersome to wear.
My arm chunks are fully exposed and the culottes are somewhat ill fitting. That could only mean one thing. It's still hot and sticky in Chicago! You make allowances in this heat. I've seen half exposed booties so I'm not doing too bad. I'm saving that for August. Not really. I'll stick to the half short / half skirt combo. They're super airy and I can still sit on the floor and run after V without showing the personal bits.
Thrift Tips
Check the skirt section. Culottes are easy to mistake for a skirt.
Try them on in store. Crotch depth can be tricky with these wide leg pant skirts.
Palazzo pants could very well be the tall girl's culottes.
In that same vein, do your culottes look like pants? Have them altered if you love them.
Remember the jersey knit culottes with the fold over waistband that were all the rage a few years ago? Lots are those ended up in thrift stores. Saw a lot of camel toe that summer. Be warned.
Style Tips
Tee or tank is all you really need.
Try a cropped top or button up tie front for an extra bit of pizazz. Bra top if you're spicy like that!
Culottes are extra wide and flowy so pair with something well fitting and structured on top.
