Personalized Wedding Gift Ideas

This post is brought to you by Target, but all opinions and content are my own. Follow along with #TargetWedding. Creating a personalized wedding gift celebrates the unique qualities of the individuals and speaks to their inevitable differences and distinct personalities. It also celebrates the couple together which is why Target Wedding's theme for this year is "Be Yourself, Together".

Add a Touch of Thrift

As my closet is 90% thrift, the first item I choose from my closet is normally thrift but when Christmas (and my birthday) roll around I receive fresh new gifted threads which I have no problem with! I do still add a touch of thrift. I don't remember the last time I wore an outfit that didn't have a single thrifted item. I know that everyone isn't thrift friendly or able to find great garments that match your style, size, etc., so adding an accessory is the perfect way to experiment with thrift fashion and incorporate it into your look:

{Thrift Haul} Coach at Savers, Prada at Goodwill

I had a very good designer purse thrift haul last week. You know how I like the grimy thrift store but sometimes I do venture into clean, well lit Savers and Goodwill thrift stores.  Savers had a 50% off sale which made the prices more to my liking. I found 2 Coach purses during my visit. Later in the week, I made a quick stop into my favorite Goodwill in Northbrook . Good thing I did because I thrifted a Prada bag and new Tory Burch shoes! Those will go into The Thriftanista Closet but I did find a couple of keepers for myself. I found a Matias Salva  Matties  bag at Savers. I've been looking for a new everyday bag and I like the clean look and neutral color of this satchel. I thought it was real leather until I did some research. It is the most real leatherette I've ever seen or felt. I don't mind faux leather but I do like a sturdy well made bag that can hold up with all of the crap I stuff it with. Leather purses usually take the abuse wel...

10 Thrift Fashion Favorites of 2013

The weather outside is frightful. Seriously. There's no sun. It's rain. It's snow. It's freeze rain. This weekend was all jeans and ugly boots so here are some of my favorite thrift fashion finds of the year. 1. Sequins are my signature! They make me happy. I started the year having a hard time finding sequins in good condition but my luck turned around and I was gifted a  sequin crop top on my birthday. I wore it a couple of times and loved the way it looked with the fabulous 3.1 Phillip Lim tuxedo pants from Salvation Army.

DIY Holiday Hairstyle with Pantene

Tada!! This is my holiday hairstyle inspired by a slew of Pinterest pins and the generous products from Pantene . Before starting my updo, I washed and conditioned my hair with Pantene Pro-V Clarifying Shampoo and Deep Conditioner.

3 Reason to Shop the Grimy Thrift Store

No one pelt me with mothballs for my outfit but I am once again wearing a  sequin top . I found it at my favorite grimy thrift store, Village Discount Outlet in Roscoe Village. They wanted $8 originally but it was marked down to $6 on the day I went. The sleeves made my heart go pitter patter so it passed my thrift budget test . I found it on the fresh new merchandise rack where they keep "higher" priced items.

Pantene Holiday Hair + Giveaway

This is the season for food, drinks and parties. This is also the season for my beloved sequins! Sequins are perfect for the holiday but they do tend to get snagged and tangled in my hair. Also, a loc or two always ends up in my sips and dips! That's why my most coveted holiday hair are chic updos or low chignons. all Holiday Hair Inspiration images were found on Pinterest

Extra Small Extra Loud

Thanks to Collective Bias® and Carbon Audio for this extra small, extra loud  pocket speaker  sponsored post allowing me to have a dance party with my favorite girl this holiday season. Since becoming parents, E and I have worked on creating holiday traditions for our little family. Last year we bought our first tree after spending 10 Christmases together without one. Violet decorated the lower part of the tree beautifully. I tackled the upper half. E strung the lights. We all marveled at its beauty when it was all lit up in the darkness of our living room.

Sequin Tops Cure Winter Blues

Sequins make me happy. Snow and cold, not so much. Winter is not my season. I was feeling kinda iffy with this cold snap and decided to pull out the sequin tunic top that has been chilling in my closet for a couple of months now. I bought it at an estate sale with intent to sale so I never wore it. I thought it was a bit costume-y for me...says the girl rocking horse print pants .

So I Asked the Horse

Why such a long face? A little fact about me. That is my favorite  joke. I laughed so hard the first time I heard it and I still chuckle over it to this day. Get it? Horse? Long face? Anyway, the horse most certainly was not sad about these pants and neither am I.

SAHM Style in a $5 Sweatshirt

Just so you know, life's not always sequins and animal print around these parts. Not even close. Most of the time I'm in my SAHM simple basics like a $5 sweatshirt from Walgreens. It's rainy and overcast today so naturally I would have preferred the whole day in pajama jams (stealing V's lingo).

Darby Smart Studded Clutch DIY

All the time I spend on social media does amount to something! Last month, I received the Darby Smart Studded Clutch DIY via a Klout perk. It's the perfect solution for a lazy crafter such as myself. The heart is willing but the body not so much. I usually start off totally geeked about starting a new project then I lose steam when I realize I have to go to the store to buy supplies.
