Thriftanista in the City

Thanks Worthpoint and Salvation army for the resellers workshop and treasure hunt day. It was a wonderful learning experience and a great way to celebrate Earth Day! I don’t normally click on Facebook ads but I was quite curious as a couple of my favorite places were mentioned - Salvation Army and eBay. It was well targeted! I had heard of Worthpoint but had never fully understood the site so was really glad to be properly introduced and educated on its uses. WorthPoint is a database of over 200,000+ makers’ marks, autographs, patterns and symbols (MAPS) to identify items and uncover the history, value and authenticity. We're recreating looks we love with thrift or from our closet over at  Thriftanista Social Club . I chose a simple crop top and pencil skirt from my favorite YouTube series -- An African Cit y . The show is packed with inspiration. Everything they wear is drool worthy. I really need to get back to sewing or go on a shopping trip to Ghana.

It's time for the first 10 Questions for a Thriftanista of 2014! I am very pleased to feature one of my favorite bloggers. She's a mom, she's a thrifter, and she's from Chicago. We're twinsies! I've only met April in person one time. We were both at an event and I totally did the awkward "hi, I follow your blog" thing and she welcomed me with a big hug and made me feel very comfortable. Thanks April for being such a beautiful person inside and out!

I love a good meme so I created a few that only us thrifters would understand. This is also a mini Thriftanista takeover. Happy Friday!  Thrift Store Happy Face Thrifting makes me giddy. I get butterflies in my stomach when I'm on the way to the thrift store. I guess that means I. Love. It. I don't even mind the occasional thrift store aroma.

How excited am I to present my Thriftanista Social Club friend and vintage seller extraordinaire Bettie! She is the etsypreneur behind 14th Street Vintage. She's also listed on Krrb / Apartment Therapy's Top 100 vintage sellers in the Chicagoland area.  After meeting her, I knew that I wanted to pursue my own entrepreneurial goals in online resale. Bettie is my inspiration. 

It's that time again! This month's Thriftanista is my long time friend (seriously high school) Venita of the blog, Girl...get a life ! She's a thrifter, an eBay queen, a writer, a news junkie, football fan, gorgeous shoe collector , and she cooks! Whew. She should probably add interior designer to her list because she has a beautiful home filled with art and vintage finds too. Today I'm introducing a new series for the blog that will feature the thrift stories of fashionable thrifters aka Thriftanistas and also some of the best thrift stores around town. My first Thriftanista is the good homie and Violet's favorite auntie, Cessily.
