I feel like a glam goddess in this 70s vintage single draped sleeve column dress. It has some pretty dramatic details packaged in a rainbow of colored diagonal stripes. I like to ask myself where I'll wear a piece before I commit to buy. I couldn't imagine beyond a Saturday night party time dress but it turns out it is very wearable as an everyday look.
This discovered this one shoulder vintage column dress at Randolph Street Vintage Market in Chicago. The summertime monthly shopping event was going down during my trip last month.
I went up and down the stalls gushing over all of the beautiful pieces.
I had just come from the Goodwill on the same street and bought so many goodies so I wasn't planning to weigh my pack down or deflate my wallet any further. I was on my way out the door when I laid my hands on this one in Urban Cowgirl Chic's stall. All it took was a mention of the one sleeve dress in the movie Mahogany to turn my maybe to a yes to the dress! I feel like I've tapped into some Diana Ross diva energy with this one.
I originally thought I would put on heels and find a mom's night out event to attend. Today it felt right to go over to the leisure caftan side. I wore my white mules to give it some extra jazzy Three's Company Mrs. Roper vibrations.
The one flashy arm of this dress really won me over. The asymmetrical cut of the hem line produces a very high side split too. There's also those gloriously bright colors. It's like a rainbow. It's funky and no wonder that a brand named Funky was the manufacturer of this dress.
I will say that this is probably not the right weather for a fabulous non breathing polyester jersey knit. I'll definitely pick a breezy fall day for the next time I wear it. I'm sweating buckets.
