I love it when I put together a completely thrifted outfit. The jewelry, the clothes, and the shoes are all from the thrift store. My makeup and clothes are literally sliding off in this heat but I won't let that stop the party.
Finding african print dresses and outfits in thrift stores are not very common. Finding pieces that fit your body are even more uncommon. I'm so glad Unclaimed Baggage came into my life. Buying a brand new custom ankara outfits stateside can be pretty dang expensive. The three I purchased were very affordable being under $20.
When I bought this set, I had no intention of wearing all three pieces together but I was unsure of how I would break them up. I so wanted to wear the jacket on top as a security blanket. Arms, back, and shoulders are usually the target of my negative body image issues. The heat will make you forget about all those silly hangups. I was able to be more creative.
I focused on the shades of blue in the top and what in my closet would go with blue. I remembered the super bright orange skirt from the L.A. thrift trip. Instead of following my natural inclination to tone down everything else, I let the top and the skirt come together into a bold one piece main attraction.
I kept the "go big" theme alive with one of my favorite thrifted necklaces. It's all jingly noise making fun. This outfit is loud and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I love how thrift clothes makes it possible to experiment. To be bold. To be loud. To be adventurous. All for only $20. Sometimes more. Sometimes less.
Why are you in this thrifting life?
