Bedroom Flooring & Decor Makeover

This shop has been compensated by #CollectiveBias and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. My #InspiredHome needs a guest room makeover bad. Flooring being most important, I can't decide what to choose. My heart says laminate but the house has carpet everywhere. I'm not sure if I want to use laminate flooring in one room or stick with carpet.

I love to DIY but there are times in life that you can't or should NOT do it yourself. These #DDIY moments have definitely scared me straight. I know my limitations. I stay in the fast and easy lane and don't attempt skills I don't have like carpentry or flooring installation.

In addition to a north to south move, we moved to a bigger space and we're slowly decorating the extra rooms. Of particular importance is the guest room. When you move to warmer weather, suddenly everyone wants to visit you! My goal is to get the room pretty before our next guests arrive.

My vision for the room is sleek flooring and window treatments with fun, ethnic, and colorful everything else. I want the room to be comfortable and interesting with visual interest all around. We have a smelly carpet situation so new flooring is the most pertinent part of the project.

I visited  Carpet One over the weekend. Not only are the stores locally owned by people living and investing in my new community but the employees are experts in design and installation as well. I feel good knowing that I'm shopping local and quality is not sacrificed.

After seeing several possibilities for new carpet, I realized I'm digging the laminates! Carpet One carries carpet, laminates, hardwoods, vinyls and tiles. Laminate flooring has come a long way. They look just like wood and have tough exteriors that resist stains and moisture. If I do laminate in the one room with carpet everywhere else, will it look ok?

Still undecided, I arranged for free in-home measurements which I prefer to the online guesstimate. I've never had floors redone. I want to know exactly what my costs will be up front. We discussed all of the possibilities.  Our sales rep Rick suggested we remain with carpet since it flows with better with the rest of the flooring and a new laminate would clash with the hardwoods in the entryway near the guest room. It's also more economical coming in at roughly $600 for carpet, padding, and installation.

Yes, still heart set on a laminate. In addition to going over my design choices, I was pleased Rick took the time to explain Carpet One's cleaner, healthier installation practices. They strive to minimize irritants, dust and odors to encourage better air quality. Plus, there's The Beautiful Guarantee. If it turns out I don't love it, I can have it replaced for free. I think I'll love it though.

Right now through April 19th, Carpet One is running the Don't Do It Yourself (#DDIY) Flooring Sale with 50% off of select Lee's carpets and $500 (10%) instant rebate on select hardwoods tile, laminate, LVT and more. So I absolutely must make my choices soon! I can't pass up a good sale.

We replaced most of our carpeting with Pergo years ago because of our son's allergies, which is definitely a better choice all around. There is carpet still on both set of stairs and in the basement and master bedroom but since we are looking to downsize in the next 5 - we will leave any other changes to the new owners!

Don't do it yourself lol. Girl you are so right! There is a time and a place for experts.
I can't wait to see how the guest room turns out!
