Thriftanista Style File: Little black dresses

I had a great weekend. How about you? I had two very special events and somehow I ended up wearing little black dresses to both. While going through my closet, I realized I have a lot of black dresses. I find them to be perfect for when you just don't know what to wear,  when you're bloated,  when you want to wear a lot of bright accessories or all of the above. It's pretty much the everything dress. However, I do think it's time to clean the closet and donate a couple.

My first LBD of the weekend was worn to my HS reunion. I cannot believe I've been out of high school 20 years! Wow.

The dress is from last week's haul. It's a really nice thick knit fabric. It has an empire waist with a side zipper. Apparently zippers makes the difference with empire waist and my body shape. Standard jersey dresses never fit under bust on me so I rarely buy them. The empire waist is so great for accentuating the waist though.

Through thrifting adventures I've discovered something new about me and my body type. Round of applause for thrift shopping!

My second LBD was worn to a 50th birthday celebration. This was a blowout event! The birthday boy man is loved and appreciated. Food, friends, drinks, dancing, live music and all in the backyard? Life is good. Don't you agree?

The LBD from the awesome Salvation Army $.87 per pound sale. Pretty sure I'm not wearing it right. Look at how easy it looks on the model. It refused to hit my shoulders in the right place. I pulled it on both shoulders and pulled it down off the shoulders. The dress had a mind of it's own and like "off one shoulder" the best so that's how I wore it most of the night.

I felt so Audrey. My clutch has a sweet little bow. Bows make me happy.

The best part of the event was having a night out with E. Date #5 post baby! I promise to stop counting when we get to 10.
I'm ignoring the head bang and sleepiness from the previous night's festivities.

How many little black dresses do you own?

I have one true little black dress. Isaac Mizrahi for Target that I got for like $10 a couple years ago. I need to invest in another one.

Wow, that LBD looks amazing with the gold belt and wedges. I equally love the pink and turq accents. It's amazing how accessories transform an outfit.
