U by Kotex is spearheading a groundbreaking series of projects led by real women who share a passion for change. Power to the Period is the first ever national period products drive and the second project in the Period Projects series.
My period made a sudden appearance last week while I was out and about enjoying a day of thrift shopping. Luckily, I had supplies in my purse and a bathroom nearby. It was so inconvenient but I managed. Some aren't as fortunate.
Many of the 3.5 million Americans who experience homelessness each year have limited access to period products. Because tampons and pads are costly, these products are often lacking at shelters or overlooked for donations.
This issue prompted Holly Sanchez to tweet, "Buy an extra box of pads/tampons & donate to a homeless shelter near you. These items are often overlooked." U by Kotex and DoSomething.org heard and partnered with Holly to execute a donation drive.
From Thursday, July 14 through Friday, September 30, you can start a drive in your area or donate unopened product boxes to a local Power to the Period Donation Drive.
Visit UbyKotex.com, DoSomething.org/Period or text PERIOD to 38383 for tips and tools for running the best collection drive. Plus, you'll be entered to win a $5,000 scholarship. You can also join the online conversation at #PeriodProjects.
Please consider paying it forward and showing support by sharing this post and spreading the word. Thank you!
