One of the great benefits of weight loss is the amount of clothes shopping that has to be done to fit the new physique. I am having a ball. I need new everything from undergarments to dresses so I graciously thank Octer for sponsoring today's discussion. Opinions are my own.
First: Find several brands in one place just like in a thrift store. A unique marketplace like Octer was not on my radar until they reached out to me. Now I can't stay away. I've been back several times since our partnership began. It's extremely convenient having multiple stores on one site.
You can shop by departments or by store. There are thousands of brands to choose from including popular US brands Macy's, JC Penney's and Sears in addition to UK favorites like Topshop and Marks & Spencer.
Second: Browse by department. This is the key to navigating online like you would inside of a thrift store. I was on the hunt for jumpsuits. Normally, this is not a fruitful item you'll find in a thrift store. At Octer, I was introduced to hundreds of styles at a number of different price ranges. I could also set a max price so I don't even bother with items I can't afford.
Third: Add all favorites to your cart. Just like at the thrift store, I add all of my selections to the virtual cart. I like to reserve several sizes and colors before making the final edit. I add accessories too so that I can get a full picture of how the outfit will look. I thought the pom pom necklace was the perfect color pop to the basic navy and white color palette of the jumpsuit.
Fourth: Make cart edits. In a thrift store, I edit by separating sale prices and non sale prices. I think about styling possibilities and how much wear an item will receive.
At octer.com, I simply compared costs and narrowed down the styles that would be most beneficial in my closet.
I noticed that my cart was "overflowing" at UK brand Dorothy Perkins. The clothes are very affordable with lots of sales items including this striped jumpsuit so I narrowed my selection down to the jumpsuit and the necklace. They were meant to be worn together.
Fifth: Search for coupons and checkout. In a thrift store, I come prepared with coupons and pay special attention to sale items. When shopping Dorothy Perkins via Octer, I made sure to reach the free shipping minimum and did a quick search for digital coupons. Free shipping is a must. Otherwise, I don't feel very thrifty. It's crazy how much of a deterrent a $7 shipping cost can be.
Where do you shop online? Can you shop several brands?
