I attended Chicago's Shoe Lover party hosted by DSW. Guests were treated to appetizers, cocktails, and new shoes. Yes, that really happened. In addition to a fabulous party, I got the scoop on all of the latest shoe trends at great prices available at DSW.
Spring Shoe Trends
Gladiators
Gladiators are back again for spring! Not one of my favorites. I've seen them look good and bad. I think they would look great on long legs and a short skirt.
I feel like my gams in gladiators would be in the bad spectrum. Perhaps I should have tested them out at the party but I had a real serious case of aching, swollen feet. If I took my shoes off, no guarantee my foot would fit back in them.

Cutouts
Cutouts are a winner in my book. They would look great with everything from pencil skirts to rolled up or cropped denim.
I am one of those people who doesn't like a lot a foot and toe exposure but I do want to look fresh and summery when it's hot outside. A cutout is the perfect solution.

Block / Chunky Heels
I was pleased to hear chunky heels were in the mix. Another one great for any and all occasions. Perfect for a neat and clean office look or a casual short and tee weekend.
Chunky heels are so much easier to walk in than a thin, stiletto heel. I have a few of these from past seasons so I'm already ahead the game.
In addition to these trends, I spotted lots of neutral colors, wedges, ankle straps, and d'orsay pumps too. All trends I've adored in the past. Looks like it will be my shoe shopping summer.
I was surprised by the absence of platforms which is one of my favorite trends. Definitely helps with my wobbly walk and intoeing. Only had an ankle collapse once the entire night! That's good for me. I'm horrible in heels but I do so love the height.

I love D'orsay shoes! Though I still have to be careful with them or I end up with major toe cleavage.

I wish I could love the Gladiator style. They look great on other people but not so much on me. Looks like you ladies had a great time!
I'm surprised platforms weren't listed either! I like the cutouts too. The color blocking in the shoe is what i love!
