Getting Dressed When You Want to Wear A Muumuu

There are definite advantages to working inside of the home. Being able to dress anyway I choose tops the list. It's still a struggle in the wahm / sahm life though. Sometimes I don't see the point of getting dressed at all. Most of the day it's just me and V. I'm at the grocery store. I'm at the library. I'm at the post office. I'm home. I'm cleaning. Im cooking. I'm playing with V. Why put together a whole outfit?

Having this blog is a great motivator. It keeps me from wearing my lounging muumuu everyday. If I don't "dress" I feel less ambitious about starting the day. Putting on clothes gives me focus and gets me going even if I am just in jeans and a sweater. When I get dressed, I'm also another step closer to getting out of the house which is a whole other beast.

Nothing says I put in a good effort like wearing J. Crew. It's so comfortable and easy but always looks pulled together. It's a little big. No worries. It just adds to the comfy level. Also wearing a new found pair of great jeans. I found a low rise with full butt coverage. I did not know it was possible.

Someone I know likes to wear pajamas when she's indoors. I don't think she needs to get dressed to help her manage her day. Lucky girl.

I have to get dressed every day to leave the house and I still want to wear my PJs to work. I'm jealous that the boy gets to wear PJs to school tomorrow! :-( Love those shoes!!!

I make an effort to get dressed at least most of the week. Love the lip color you're wearing!

You look Great at home. I have to make a large effort to get dressed on the 3 days I am not leaving the house and thankful to my blogger pals for inspiration.

I agree that getting dressed helps you to be more motivated throughout the day. I get dressed whenever I'm leaving out of the house, but I also like to wear my fuzzy pants and fuzzy socks around the house!

I'm visiting you from the SITS Comment Love Party. Have a great week!

I get dressed every day (besides the occasional pj day in the winter). I feel more motivated and ready to tackle the day if I'm clothed and have done something with my hair and makeup. And hey, when I see myself in the mirror I'd rather look at a great-looking me! ;-)

You look so good! I get dressed, sure, but to be honest I don't take time for hair and makeup. Sometimes just before my husband gets home I'll fix myself up a little, but I've definitely been slacking! This is a great motivator to get my act together! #SITSBlogging #CommentLove

I'm a total pajamas girl! They're so comfy and I can stay in them all day. However, I completely see your point about getting dressed making you feel more ambitious. Maybe that's why I've been 'eehh' lately. Love the simple casual outfit!

I always feel better and act better when I've dressed nice. Though days like today, when it's a snow day and we aren't going anywhere, I'm totally a PJ's girl :)

I think getting dressed in SOMETHING other than pajamas is important when you work at home or if you're a SAHM. I work at home in the early morning so I don't get a chance to workout until the afternoon, so I usually put my workout clothes on first thing. It helps to get out of my PJ's, plus there's less of a fight a few hours later when it's time to drag myself down to the basement to exercise. Then I get myself into "real" clothes after I've showered. It works for me :)

Getting up and getting dressed has been a BIG motivator for me. If I don't, I will get nothing accomplished and have a wasted day.

Nope I work from home and don't have to dress…or shower for that matter. I workout in the morning and stay in those clothes most of the day. If I have a meeting then I will shower sooner. I do try to be clean and presentable by dinner time! Loved the outfit and the smile. Visiting from SITS

Alright girl, work it!

I have a 4 month son who keeps me busy most of the morning, so unless I shower at night, it usually happens in the afternoon. I do get dressed everyday though, unless we have a snow day or something and my husband is at home. I make a point to dressed otherwise, because it just makes me feels better and more well put together.

I love everything about this outfit! And your daughter has some beautiful hair! Like mama, like daughter :)
I'll admit, I've been slacking on the whole "dressing up" thing, but I suppose that is the benefit of not being a fashion blogger. I can slum all day and no one will see. Except for my daughter lol.

Your outfit is perfect! Love the hair, beautiful! I am dressed down most of the time, but when I go shopping or running errands I wear my nicer clothes. I have my children get dressed in the morning when they wake up, because it is much easier having them ready ahead of time. Visiting from SITS!

You look fabulous in those jeans! I have struggled with getting dressed and looking decent every day since my second baby was born. I need to get my routine back, because it always makes me feel better and more productive, plus I think it's good for the kids to see me somewhat presentable. New goal for the day! RIght after my coffee...

Your outfit is super cute, love the boots with the jeans too! I'm a pijama blogger for sure, but I try to make an effort to at least put on a comfy lounge suit or juicy style velour tracksuit and put on some makeup so my fiance doesn't get sick of seeing me in my Spongebob pijamas all the time lol. (he wouldn't but, I try to make an effort) I'm not 100%, health wise at the moment so that's kind of why I'm in pjs a lot but once I'm back on track I'll be out the door in my cutest clothes.

Like your outfit! J Crew is great. I do agree how we dress for our business is important for mindset. Thanks for the reminder! Best Regards, Wendy #sitsgirls

Yep. I dress every day in an outfit that looks nice. It helps me get with the program quicker and like to look nice for my DH. I will wear lounge pants, but make sure I wear something that looks good with them. Val @ Love My DIY Home

I really enjoy wearing pretty clothes, so yes, I get dressed when I'm just staying at home and I feel better when I do! I think it's a great habit to be in! (Although, in super cold weather, pajamas do tend to be warmer!) :)

Great look! I feel the same way you do even though I dress it still is not quite blog/photo ready. Those jeans look great on and of course V's hair is on point!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Great pics! I agree that getting fully ready (dressed, makeup, hair, etc) helps even as a WAHM/SAHM. I know that if I don't I am not motivated enough. I get ready every day & try to be ready before 8am as if I am sitting in an office at 8am, because I am.

I love the booties. I considered staying in sweats today but threw on a comfy tee, cardi, and jeans and leopard flats. It REALLY does give you that motivational kick you need!

Interesting topic as I just recently decided that even if I don't plan on leaving the house, I will make a better effort to dress up as though I was going to work. Mainly because it motivitates me more and makes me feel better about how I look and feel. It seems like I get more work done when I do.

Love your look! You look gorgeous! And I agree... I need to get dressed to have a productive day although I work from home, I feel so much more lazy if I just stay in my PJs!

Iriemade said...

Sigh. I never get dressed. I'm always in my PJ's. When I have to go out, I return home and put on PJ's. I do feel better when at least my PJ's match, lol. Part of the problem is not wanting to destroy my good clothes since shopping for new ones are few and far between.
