Adults Wear Braces, Too!

This post is sponsored by Invisalign but opinions and metal braces are my own. I’ve always been pretty self conscious of my smile because of my overbite and getting braces was always in the back of my mind. I was just waiting for the right time. This past year, I developed major issues because of my overbite. The end result would be my front tooth falling out. Having buck teeth, I can deal with. A missing front tooth, I can not.

I ended up with metal braces because I didn’t think clear braces would work for me. It wasn't until I attended an Invisalign Teen StraightTalk event that I was set straight about a couple of my assumptions:

Assumption #1: My dental issues are far too extreme to be fixed by clear, removable plastic.

As it turn out, Invisalign’s treatment is not limited to mild cosmetic cases. Due to many advances in its proprietary technology, Invisalign can effectively fix crowded teeth, widely spaced teeth, open bite, crossbite, overbite and underbite.

Assumption #2: Clear braces cost more than traditional braces.

During the event, I found out that Invisalign is comparable to the cost of traditional metal braces, is covered by most dental insurance plans, and affordable financing options are always available.

I am thinking more about Invisalign having worn metal braces for 24 hours now.

While I am happy to finally be taking care of my overbite, I do wish I had scheduled a consultation with a certified Invisalign doctor to find out if clear, removable braces were an option for me since they are just as effective and the cost is roughly the same.

All I’ve had to eat is a bowl of soup and I would really love to chew right now. Also, I have wires and brackets poking around my gums and Violet’s head has already made contact with my mouth. I am feeling very abused right now.

So if you or your teen are considering braces, visit Invisalign online to take the Smile Assessment and learn more about financial options available.

Have you or someone you’ve known used Invisalign? And if so, what was their experience?

This is a sponsored post. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

You look adorable! I keep going back and forth with whether to get braces or not. I have an overbite which I didn't even know was a problem - ha! One of my top front teeth is on a slight gangsta lean and I have 2 bottom teeth that grew in crooked due to crowding. I have 3 wisdom teeth. Only 1 on the bottom grew in and it's pretty much hiding under my gums. I should handle that huh? Only I'm terrified of the dentist :-/.

You will have an amazing smile! The pain is temporary and after a while you'll forget that they are there.

I have some dental work to get done myself. I have a tooth on the side that is missing, that I will be getting replaced as soon as the approval from the insurance company comes back. Once I'm done with the needed work I have been contemplating getting braces. I had them as a teen and didn't wear my retainer so that was a huge waste of money. I am definitely going to look into invisalign as an option.

I actually wore Invisalign to correct my overbite and I am so happy that I didn't have traditional braces. The pain you're experiencing is only temporary - hang in there! You'll be happy with the results :D

What?! I was told in high school that Invisalign wouldn't correct my overbite! I may have to have braces again in the future because I was the worst patient and didn't wear my retainer, so I'm glad to know now that Invisalign's an option...

I had those hideous full metal traintracks in the 80's & it was brutal,
especially every month for tighting!

I had metal braces as a teen- am so happy I did as the time went by fast- and I've had years of straight teeth.

You need the wax for your poor mouth! Until your mouth gets used to them, wax over the metal provides relief!

Good luck- eventually you get used to them. :)

I wore metal braces about 10 years ago for 2+ years. It was painful at times. Especially after monthly adjustments. But I did get comfortable with them after some time. And I ate everything that was supposed to be forbidden lol. My current retainer (I lost my first one :-/) is Invisalign. And I'm still looking to get some cosmetic work done some day since I'm still
self-conscious about my smile.
