Does this dress look familiar? I've worn it before. It's the maxi dress from Dots. It was too long and all summer long I procrastinated on hemming it so I just chopped it into a mullet skirt. It was really easy to do.
Step 1: cut slit or mark the length you want in the front. Do the same on center back.
Step 2: Line up side seams.
3: Starting at marked length, draw a diagonal line until you reach back length.
4. Cut!
Mine is a little choppy as I did a lot of eyeballing and wasn't particularly interested in cleaning up edges. Perfect I will never be.
Do you like the new length?

Of course I do! Now you have me wanting to chop up one of my maxi dresses! I love this on you...it shows off your legs and strappy sandals. Perfect DIY...even if the edges aren't the best.
that is HOT girl! I love the new length. Nice work!
That's really cute :)
Very cute! I actually think it's how the dress should have been made in the first place! It's perfect now.
Wow, great job. Love it.

I love the new length! It looks fab especially from the back :)
You really flipped that. NICE!
I love that you call it a mullet dress. LOL! Really cute transformation.
I love your mullet dress! I tried to cut my own, too, and it definitely did not turn out cute like yours- I couldn't get the lengths right and my cutting job was pretty tragic.
Thanks Chandra!
Thank you!

Thanks. I think you're right! The chevron works well with the cut.

What you did with that dress is amazing!! I like the way it looked before, but it looks even better now!
