I'm not a super fan of plaid but I just adored the cut of this 80s dress with poof sleeves, nipped waist, and a faux wrap front. Since plaid is on trend for fall, I feel very fortunate to have found such a great piece!
I wore it to my first trip to Rooftop at the Wit. It's an amazing hotel bar with magnificent views of the city. The food and drinks were spectacular just like the views!
Plaid at the Thrift Store
Thrift stores love plaid! This is one of those abundant items you can find in your thrift mecca.
This may be my first time spotting a plaid dress that doesn't look super 80s. If it's a dress you're after, may the force be with you. Vinage Nut found a great one!
Dresses missing the matching belt are common. Pick up a cute belt while you're out shopping.
Plaid fabrics hide stains very well. Check your purchase thoroughly.
Like this exact dress? It's available for purchase in the Thriftanista Closet. Rooftop at the Wit ain't cheap I have to fund my adventure some how! Kidding. I'm actually saving towards a good school for V. Also, not cheap.
How to Style a Plaid Dress
A plaid dress with bold colors can stand on its own. You can be simply dressed with neutral colors.
A black or nude shoe seems to work best. Keep the footwear modern if your dress is vintage.
My styling of this dress was somewhat based on the weather. Warm fall day with a cooler night and I've never hung out on a rooftop so I added some bold accessories! A big bright scarf and crochet tights. Totally goes against my simply dressed tip. It's that way sometime.
Pair a structured plaid shirt with a full skirt and boom! You have the look of a plaid dress.
