{Before + After} Vintage Floral Dress

I loved this vintage floral dress before the chop. I love it even more after surgery. I found the dress at one of the grimier thrift stores.  I really liked the Hawaiian floral print. It's purple and it has suede cutouts. It fits me very well. No rips or stains. I heard the thrift angels singing with this one.

I checked to see how much they wanted for this stunner. Prices usually run in the $3 - $5 which works for me. I was prepared to take my treasure home.

Sad face. There wasn't a construction paper price tag on it. Seasoned thrifters know what that means.

It would have to be priced before it could be sold which is a 24 hour process at Village Discount. I had to leave the dress behind with my name on a torn sheet of paper with some very unhelpful employees.

I feel rather fortunate that it was actually priced and waiting for me to pay when I arrived the next day. They wanted $6.50 for it. Overpriced but whatever. I loved it.

That was over a  year ago.  Earlier this year,  my Instagram family agreed that I should chop it! Well, I finally got around to doing it.

I cut some length and fabric glued the hem because I'm lazy. The glue is suppose to hold permanently. I like it so much that I'm going to sew it. Eventually. I'd feel better with thread to secure and the hem will be a lot smoother.

Later. Later. Says the procrastinator.

There are non-functional buttons on the sleeve edge. Those have been snipped.

I considered shoulder pad removal too because they're so big but I like them a lot. I pinned a few larger than life shoulder pads to validate my decision. I'm keeping my footballer shoulders!

I really like the short version better on you & you have great legs to show it off.

Oh yes, the chop worked wonders for it! I love that you can get away with tights and a sweater now. I think I'll have to move to Atlanta next!

We had a cold spell here too! It's been heavy coat weather but it's nothing like Chicago! I'll take it.

That is cute!! I really like the shorter version better too, makes me miss my sewing machine so much...I need to convince my mother in law to send it to me or I will have to buy a new one.
