Under every great outfit -- thrifted or now, you'll likely find some great shapewear. It's easy to look good in your clothes when you have the right foundation underneath. That's why I was glad HourglassAngel.com reached out and asked me to take the My Shapewear Stylist quiz.
The quiz was designed to help consumers select the right products for their body type and needs. This proprietary four question online quiz took over a year to create by carefully collecting data based on customer and stylist responses. For this, the stylists measured and fit over 50 women of different body shapes with nearly 4,000 different garment combinations to determine the most accurate quiz results and product choices.
I took the quick quiz and received three primary recommendations. I wanted tummy control but not anything seriously binding. I wanted something that I could potentially wear everyday. Also, I wanted something that was easy to get in and out of.
The quiz questions are:
1. What are your measurements?
You'll need to know your bust, waist, and hips measurements. If you don't have a tape measure, you can conveniently print one out on the site.
As a thrifter and diy(er), I'm already pretty familiar with my sizes. I wish there was more direction though for bra size because you can't just wrap a tape measure around yourself to truly know what your bra size is. Ultimately, I didn't need to know cup size for my choice but I think it would be a nice feature to have.
2. Main reason for using shapewear.
I chose "wear to work/everyday". I would have liked the option of choosing more than one reason but at the end of the quiz I was given recommendations based on some of the other reasons like workout /exercise and waist training.
3. What type of compression are you looking for? Smoothing, slimming, sculpting.
Again, I wanted all of that but I chose slimming because I tend to pull out the girdles and such when I'm wearing curve hugging attire.
4. Select the areas of the body you would like to shape.
I went with all over body shaping and voila! A virtual closet appeared with my recommendations.
Of my recommendations, I chose the Corselette by Amia and it's absolutely perfect. It shapes my waist. Flattens my stomach and lifts my bust. It's pretty too. The lace trim is very lingerie like. I love it. I wore it the whole day and it wasn't uncomfortable. I liked being able to wear my own bra and not have the corset twisting and falling down as the corselette has straps.
