{The Thrift Way} Canadian Tuxedo

Pairing denim on denim makes for very easy dressing. You will likely not ever find a perfect top and bottom match for color thereby making it extremely easy to get the Canadian tuxedo look just right.

Denim on denim looks best with a contrast in denim shades. On top, I'm wearing a lighter weight chambray style J. Crew button up. Thrifted, of course. On bottom, a vintage a-line skirt with a front split. I fell in love with it when I spotted it in Savers.

The chambray shirt has appeared many times here. It's one of those pieces that goes with everything and can be worn dressed up or down. It's comfortable and broken in.

The skirt is all the things I love rolled into one. High waist. Yes. Patch pockets. Yes. Front split. Oh yes. It even has an esteem building vintage label just below the waistband. It reads Prime Cut just above my butt. How could I not thrift this one? The label cracks me up. Yes, I'm easily entertained.

The earrings I purchased in Kenya remind me of afro combs of the 70s thus making them a perfect match for the 70s skirt.

I love to punch up the color in monochromatic looks. Well, I love color in any situation but I especially like to mess up a nice clean color palette.

My hair is drying in a twisted updo and I wore a head wrap all weekend. It's one of my favorite prints my ankara fabric collection.

I broke up my week and broke out the heels to wear with this look. They're not too high and they have a comfort sole. All grey business in front and neon colored party in the back.

I love this outfit. It's comfortable and came together really fast. As I've said before, mornings are a struggle so it was heaven to look in my closet and see denim and another denim both freshly cleaned from laundry mountain and ready to be worn.

Do you wear denim on denim?
