I found a vintage red and white perfectly broken in gingham shirt at Goodwill. Gingham isn't what I naturally gravitate towards so I consulted Pinterest for inspiration. Of course, a Style Pantry pin was able to help me out.
Gingham doesn't particularly excite me but the cozy feel of this butterfly collar button up was so inviting. It reminds me of picnics and Independence Day festivities. I wanted to steer clear of a holiday look yet my blue and denim pieces were calling out to me in the wardrobe.
I ignored them and instead went into serious Saturday night Pinterest search mode. I found Folake in a beautiful mustard colored full skirt that reminded me of the neon skirt from mommy. I've worn it a lot. I wasn't sure what else I could do with highlighter yellow. I've worn it with blue, black, and the old faithful denim. Now there's gingham. I do believe it's my favorite.
In case you haven't noticed, tying my shirts in a front knot is my jam. That little sliver of skin exposure is cooling in this heat that I will not complain about because I'd take it over frigid temps any day.
It also keeps my look summer casual. I like my shirt tucked in and was ready to go with that as pictured in the inspiration look but staying properly tucked just seemed like too much for the day. Brunching and relaxing is about all I could handle in this heat that I will absolutely NOT complain about.
Keeping with the casual and low effort them, I wore my low heel ankle strap sandals that are fairly comfortable. Plus, the shape is pretty similar to the inspiration.
Pinterest for the win once again.

I love how the look came together. Super cute!
I just found your blog and love it! and oh wow - you make gingham look sooo cute! I got a gingham shirt from goodwill a while ago and I never knew what to pair it with!

I definitely like this pairing, although I'm not a huge fan of gingham. Perhaps a thrifted gingham shirt on 50% off day will change my mind :).
