Today, we are turning two colorful scarves into a stunning, fully lined shoulder bag. It’s light, chic and completely customizable using thrifted finds or vibrant silk scarves.
Materials Needed
2 Vibrant Scarves (Pro-tip: Thrift store finds work perfectly here!)
Lining Fabric (2 pieces cut to match scarf dimensions)
Grommet Kit & Setting Tool (Save yourself the headache and use a proper hole punch instead of an X-Acto knife!)
Gold Chain Purse Strap (Look for lobster claw clasps so you can swap it onto other bags later)

Step-by-Step Tutorial
Stitch the Main Bag & Lining Place your two scarves right-sides together and sew along the sides and bottom edge. Repeat this exact process for your lining fabric, but leave a 4-inch opening along one side seam—you'll need this to turn the bag right-side out!
Combine and Pull Through Place the scarf bag inside the lining bag (right sides facing each other) and sew around the top opening. Carefully reach into the 4-inch gap in the lining and pull the entire scarf bag through. Stitch the gap closed and press your edges flat.
Install the Grommets Mark where you want your purse strap to attach on either side. Use a dedicated hole punch or the hammer tool that comes with the grommet kit to make clean cuts through the fabric layers, then attach your metal grommets using the setting tool.
Attach Your Strap & Style! Clip your gold chain strap directly through the grommets. The beauty of using detachable straps is that you can swap them out across different DIY bags or thrifted pieces whenever you want!
