4 Ways to Splurge Wisely with Walmart Best Plans

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. Walmart Best Plans provide unlimited talk, text & data service plans and is just one of the ways to #MaxYourTax refund this season. #CollectiveBias

I like to splurge. I'm very good at treating myself. However, I am trying to do better in the new year. I'm more intentional about what I'm spending money on. I'm hitting up the thrift stores less and discovering what I can diy or find in my closet more.

I'm keeping retail therapy under control. I'm continuing to use Walmart Family Mobile as they have the lowest priced unlimited plans. I'm paying myself first and adding money to my savings. I'm giving when I can. These are a few ways I'm making good financial decisions and with the extra income from a tax refund, I plan to myself and others.

4 Ways to Wisely Splurge Your Tax Refund

Tax season is here and I'm expecting a little money. I want to get the most out of the extra change that's why I will be splurging. Wisely, of course.

splurge wisely by donating
Pay it Forward Donate to a charity. To give is to receive. My personal favorite way of giving is by making a donation to Kiva. You can lend money via the Internet to low-income / underserved entrepreneurs and students in over 70 countries. It speaks to my own entrepreneurial goals and it makes me feel good to know I'm helping someone with those same goals. As money is paid back, I just recycle (the thrift in me) the money to another person in need.

Small Treat Sometimes the shopping bug grabs a hold of you! Go for an inexpensive splurge. Maybe it's a fancy drink from your favorite coffee house or a new cell phone. Walmart has a number of great phones currently on rollback.

ZTE Zinger - new price $19.84 (was $39.88)
Alcatel Evolve 2- $39.83 (was $59.88)
Nokia Lumia 530 - $49.88 (was $69.88)
Samsung Galaxy Exhibit - $49.84 (was $99.88)
Nokia 635 - $79.84 (was $129.88)
LG L90 - $99.82 (was $179.88)
Alcatel Fierce 2 - $119.00 (was $129.99)
Galaxy Avant - $149.00 (was $199.99)
ZTE ZMAX - $179.00 (was $199.88)

Perhaps a discounted yet still fly piece of jewelry or new shoes are more your taste. I may have already treated myself a bit here. If you follow me on social media than you are familiar with my small treats. I still can't look away from a good deal!

Vacation Planning Start a vacation fund or add the additional income to your vacation fund. Having a total experience will last longer than buying a bunch of little things. This is how most our refund will be spent. Violet will finally meet her relatives in Kenya! Plus, we can add a visit to a safari park now. Our vacation just got more awesome.

Maximize your Tax Refund It's not as costly as a vacation. It's more useful than the small treat. It's more tangible than a donation. With a little extra, this is the perfect time to visit your local Walmart and switch cell services for the better.

Investing in a good quality and affordable cell service like Walmart Family Mobile will give you more bang for your buck. It's the splurge that keeps on giving. The service is only $29.88/month (for the first line) and includes up to 500MB of 4G LTE data. With the new 4G LTE service download speeds are faster than 3G networks. Everything you need in a phone and more is available with Walmart Family Mobile and the price just can't be beat.

I've shared my tax refund plans with you. I'd love to hear yours. Are you splurging (wisely) this tax season?

I love Kiva! These are all great way to maximize your refund. Unfortunately they'll be no refund for us lol.

Great suggestions! I love Kiva. It's such a great program.

My husband has his eye on that Samsung. He's thinking of leaving #teamiPhone for it.

Great suggestions! I'm trying to be as frugal as possible with my tax refund, and save it mainly for summer vacations I have planned. Like you said, small treats are ok too. :-)

Those are great ways to spend your refund check. My goal is to use my refund on my first novel. I have to pay for the book cover, editing, etc. Hopefully everything else will fall into the savings. Thanks for sharing!

Walmart is about to have the cell phone game on lock. They're definitely getting more competitive in their pricing and making sure that they have a little something for every budget.
