3 Reason to Shop the Grimy Thrift Store

No one pelt me with mothballs for my outfit but I am once again wearing a sequin top. I found it at my favorite grimy thrift store, Village Discount Outlet in Roscoe Village. They wanted $8 originally but it was marked down to $6 on the day I went. The sleeves made my heart go pitter patter so it passed my thrift budget test. I found it on the fresh new merchandise rack where they keep "higher" priced items.

Village Discount is a really great store. However, it is a little dirty and it's in an old, dingy building. It is overstuffed with stuff. I never leave without something of value though. It's my kind of thrifting. Rather you're a seasoned thrifter or a novice, you have to give the grimy thrifty a try because:

sequin top ideas

1. It's like a real treasure hunt. My grimy thrift store is packed tight. Everything is cramped into a small space and it's a disorganized mess. There are clothing racks above the clothing racks! There's bound to be at least one diamond. You have to be prepared to spend some time.

2. Prices are probably cheaper. In my experience, the less digging you have to do the higher the prices and I'm not talking high thrift price. I'm talking retail prices. I don't need to have it pretty and color coded all the time especially if I can save a few bucks.

3. Designer finds are there. My grimy thrift store is in a nice neighborhood surrounded by boutiques. I've found Stuart Weitzman, Diane von Furstenberg, and Ferragamo shoes. I also find sequins and cheetah print leggings too.

I'm a sequin girl too!

Our thrift store has an awful smell. I don't know what it is but it also has the best stuff. So I plug my nose and shop til I drop.

I'm over our thrift stores. Even goodwill is now putting anything with a designer label in it's own sectional and charging double what it normally costs! They are even doing it with Target brands and that just blows my mind. I need to hit up your shops!

I have sequin envy. I've been shopping Village Discount in Chicago Heights since I was a little girl. When I go, it's definitely an event. I go through ALL of the racks and shelves. I always come out with great clothes and nick knacks.
