J. Crew Inspired Nail Art
I really like J. Crew's mash up of pretty pastel colors on the Spring 2013 runway. I decided to use it as inspiration for the nail art in my latest manicure. I've made several freehand designs. Some work. Yes to dots! Some not so much. While I heart nail art, hearts on nails proved to be quite challenging.
I ordered Sally Hansen Nail Art pens from Walgreens online (want to make sure I'm earning those balance rewards) and I did a little something different for each nail! Just like in the J. Crew collection, I used a mix of shapes and florals in cute spring hues.
I applied a base coat and painted my nails with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Twisted Pink.
I worked on the flower first. I made a circle a little bit off center with the orange nail art pen and then made short wispy strokes around the circle to create the flower petals.
I worked on the middle finger next because I wasn't sure how many nails I was going to draw on. I made rectangular shapes in periwinkle and yellow and filled them in with more wisps.
I went for a simple green stripe down the middle of ring finger. I did a flower and slanted wisps on the pointer.
The drawing was going very well so I just kept on going.
Another rectangle on the thumb, applied a topcoat and done!
It was easy to draw with the pen but using it to color in sections wasn't going so well that's why I continued with the short wispy strokes. If you want to color in a whole block of space, I would use the polish brush.
If you heart nail art, Sally Hansen has great products and tutorials to help you achieve your runway inspired nails. Visit them on Twitter or the I Heart Nail Art Facebook app.
Just so you know, it's BOGO 50% on Insta Dri and Salon Effects at Walgreens thru 3/30/13. If you buy 2 between 3/10 - 3/16, you'll earn 2,000 balance reward points. I think I'll stop in this week to pick up supplies for Animal Instinct!
