Date Night in a Thrifted Maxi Skirt

Standing in the closet searching for something to wear for date night, my eyes were immediately drawn to a recently thrifted accordion pleat maxi skirt. It's one of those items that had me asking "why would someone get rid of this?" It's a great skirt. It's well-made. It's washable.  That elastic is a godsend.  It's floaty and ethereal when I walk.  The skirt was only $4.50. This skirt is fabulous.

Albeit, a size too small in the waist. I try not to buy clothes that don't fit because I don't want to lie about those few pounds I'm going to loose. This time I am actually taking some steps to reduce as suggested by my doctor. I'm 4 pounds away from my the goal. The perfect fit is just around the corner. Hopefully.

This skirt has a tiny bit of elastic near the zipper. What? Yes, a patch of decorative elastic. A million gold stars for the designer! After a night out at P. F. Chang's that stretch was much appreciated.

I decided to pair my floaty skirt with a flouncy top. Also, a fairly new thrift find. I wasn't sure about the floaty and flouncy pairing. I feared I'd look uhm..fluffy. I was wrong. They look great together. It's has kind of a 40s vibe.

A senior told me I looked like an angel. A couple stopped to tell me how great my skirt was too. I love getting compliments on thrift store scores. It just reenforces the fact that quality and style doesn't have to cost a lot of money.

What have you thrift scored lately?

Gorgeous!!!!! And, I will say it again, Gorgeous!

I do have one question though. I am always afraid to purchase accordion skirts as fear of washing/dry cleaning. I was once quoted $40 to clean and press one so I have since stayed away from them. What is your recommendation for caring for these types of pieces?
