The First Date

We finally had our first date sans V over the weekend. I had a great time. We went to see Rise of the Planet of the Apes. SN: any fans out there? I love the movies and tv show. After, we had a leisurely lunch at Zapatista. We don't normally have too many problems dining out with V, it still felt good to just relax, have some drinks, talk to each other and not have to entertain La Baby.

We will have to add a "no babies allowed" day to our regular schedule. We'll also need to recruit some more day sitters. She wore my sister out with her crying. Now I know I'm not overreacting when I say this girl can keep the water works going.

When we dropped her off she started to get clingy. I think she could smell our escape plan. We took an extra long time saying goodbye. When we returned about 5 hours later, she had tears in her eyes. Sucky sucks. She was also very excited to see us. She talked all the way home even though we had a long drive so close to her bedtime.

I hope she will adjust with time. I'd hate to think I was subjecting her to mini torture sessions while we're out kicking it.

Pulled out my thrift store duds and my "night time" makeup.
Do you make time for dates/alone time? How does it work with your little ones?

We get out. I won't say as often as we like. The last time we went out to dinner I just kept saying it feels so weird to eat my food while its hot and not have to feed and cut up food for the kids.

After we go out, no matter how short the time I always feel reconnected. Lil Mama does good when we leave her. I guess she gets tired of looking at me all the time!

Good for you getting out! We have not been out on a date in quite some time and we'd love to see Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Cute pics!

You need a date night at least once a month! I am luck that my baby does good with other people so it's not a problem leaving her. Most of the time its with my mom who she is with every day.

Every couple definitely needs a date night! My daughter can be clingy at times too so even if you just stay at home and watch a movie, some alone time is a must! Hubby and I put her to bed and enjoy the alone time.

I think it's super important that parents get child-free time. But, equally as important - kids need to learn from adults other than their parents. The socialization effects of being around the not-parents cannot be forgotten! I think every family needs to figure out that balance for themselves. For us, it means we both work out of the house and have a child in daycare ... so, seeing Gavin at night and the weekends becomes super important to us. Kids with stay-at-home parents ... well, that's different, so you get to decide what works for you. Glad you tried it. Glad you're figuring out what worked and what needs to be tweaked. And hopefully, there will be a next time. =)

@Mrs. Collins Love planet of the apes. Of the 3 movies I've seen this year, it's my favorite. I want to see it again.

@Baby Shopaholic a babysitting mom is on my wishlist! Both of our parents are out of state and don't do babies. What happened to the village?

@BeeRedd I love bedtime for babies. I am grateful that she goes down at 7p with fuss.
