If I were the organized type, I would have planned out a capsule collection to wear for the next few weeks while I focus on getting situated in our new Atlanta home. But I'm not. I went to brunch instead and wore ankara! I'm cutting back the calories but I'm still very much a food lover and I cannot resist the lure of a great eating experience. I'm trying to soak up all the foodie goodness.
This is part II of my ankara birthday gifts from Ghana. I sent my measurements via email and a friend was able to have this skirt set made for me. It was so much fun to see the finished product of my vision. I requested that certain colors be used. Pink was my top choice and I love the patterns and colors of this ankara fabric. It's not a color combination I would think to pair together but now that I see it in the fabric, I'm inspired. That's the #1 reason why I love african print. It's a great guide for future outfits.
Sadly, the top did not work well with DD. No worries though. I turned it around and made it a open jacket instead. Since the top is now a jacket, I wore the only tank I could find. I would have preferred a white or a pink tank but I don't have either handy. Such is packing life.
This skirt is a sure sign that I have lost weight. It doesn't fit! It's gotten a little baggy in the waist. It continued to be slightly big on me even after brunch belly. I will have to take it in. Ahh. Feels good.
I will add it to the top of my fall sewing list. I do plan on getting more DIY / sewing in after the move. I'll have my own craft room which is sure to motivate me. Maybe I can rework the top too!
Are you an ankara fan? A brunching fan? A fan of both?

My brunch included bottomless mimosas. That explains this post brunch affection for a dog sculpture.
GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!! Love, love, love this outfit. Good luck on your move to ATL.
