I've found that my clothes sell faster online when I wear them versus when I put them on the mannequin or laying flat. That's what inspired today's thrifted outfit. I usually wear the clothes that fit and and look good on me. I also treat it as a chance to play dress up in outfits that don't have a place in my lifestyle. Today's dress up is a vintage jean skirt. Love the style but it's a bit too small.
I've had it in my Poshmark closet for a year. I originally had it posted with a collage of button front denim skirt outfits found on Pinterest. I wanted to show how awesome and on trend this skirt could be. It got a lot of likes but hung out in the Posh closet through all of the seasons without any bites. I actually had three of the same style and two others that were button front flared that all sold. Obviously, I have a thing for jean skirts.
Anyway this skirt is the only one that refused to go despite lowering the price numerous times. It takes a lot for people to take a chance on skirts in Poshmark world. So, I squeezed myself into it to give a better idea of fit. I also added my sizes to the listing for comparison.
And guess what happened? It sold! But not on Poshmark. It started to quickly accumulate likes on Poshmark but it took less than a day to sell on eBay.
I removed the vintage safari animal top from my Poshmark closet last year because I was tired of looking at the sad unliked mannequin photos. I think it's a great top but it was hard to see how wonderful it could be when all styled up in an outfit.
Even though both pieces are pretty old, I don't feel like I'm wearing old clothes. The skirt is gone and I wasn't ever going to be able to fit into anyway but the top is going in my real closet until it sells.
By the way, I know some are turned off by actually seeing someone else wear the secondhand clothes that they want to buy. Personally, I like to see how the pieces look on a real body.
