Thriftanista Style File: RACHEL Rachel Roy dress

I had a post anniversary date this week. Date #3 since V. Woohoo! We went to see Fela and it was amazing. I'm so glad we were able to go. Having seen it, I now want to:

1. Read Fela's book.
2. Visit the Shrine.
3. Learn to move my "clock" like these ladies.
4. Start a revolution -- Thrifters Unite!

What I Wore

I did a Salvation Army drive by over the weekend. It was on my way to my destination and I just stopped in for 30 minutes or so. I came out with this little dress from RACHEL by Rachel Roy for Macy's. The tag says x-small and I was about to put it down. I remembered my own rule and tried it on anyway. It fits and I love it.

Print dress - Rachel by Rachel Roy (thrifted)
Necklace - handmade in Kenya
Black belt - Yves St. Laurent "supposedly" (thrifted)
Black tights - unknown
Crochet tights - unknown
Grey pumps - Payless
Do you ignore size labels when trying on clothes?

  1. Yes, I do because I learned in my fashion class that brands now have their own measurements for what a small and so on should be for their company. So, while I can't fit a small in some brands, in others I can. Always try it on before you put it back!

    1. This is for sure the only extra small in m closet. Most of the old clothes have me in a larger size closer to sewing pattern sizes.

Vanity sizing will have me in a 0 soon!

I love the dress. Let me borrow it...there may be more babysitting (i.e. dates in your future if you do).

  5. You look fierce, woman!
And yes, I ignore labels. I can usually look at a garment and tell if and how it will fit, regardless of size. And don't let it be a good deal 'cuz I may just disregard the fit altogether and buy the thing anyway just to get the deal!

    1. Thanks, Kish!

True shopaholic. My mom buys deals like that. If she can't fit it she will find someone who will or donate it.
