Balloon Sleeve Sweater From the Thrift Gods

Thrift store clothes have the worst hanger appeal. Things are wrinkled. Sometimes they're dusty. Sometimes items are haphazardly placed on the racks. That doesn't mean they aren't gems. That's how I felt about this vintage red sweater with the amazing balloon sleeves.

It just looked like a big shapeless blob on a hanger. The hanger was buckling from the massive bulk of the sweater. It had a few pulled threads that were definitely on their way to becoming holes.

Otherwise, it's a pretty great sweater. The color is divine.  The weave of the knit runs horizontal and vertical creating an interesting pattern. It's oversized in a comfortable blanket type of way and the sleeves are so fab.

Old sweaters don't always have the best fit. They come in so many great prints but end up being too bulky and boxy. This sweater drapes beautifully. Even with the thickness, I can tuck them into my jeans.

The jeans are another great thrift find. I like finding the ones that are already washed and broken in then I won't be surprised by the fit after washing.

Sometimes I thrift things that I'm not quite sure about. That would be the boots I'm wearing. I've thought about dyeing the calf skin all black because the print is my least favorite about the boots but have decided to sell them. They're great boots just not right for my closet.  You win some. You lose some.

I'm liking them with my sweater though.
