5 Reasons Why Every Mom Needs A Stretchy Skirt

I discovered the wonders of the stretchy skirt over the summer. It is a godsend garment that I think every closet needs but especially moms on the go. Getting little ones ready for school may not leave enough time to make yourself fly for the day. The stretchy skirt is an easy button.

A stretchy skirt is basically a tube of fabric to pull up over the hips. It's a simply made pencil skirt with lots of stretchy lycra. It's usually available in a broad range of sizes. It's likely polyester but desperate times call for desperate measures. It will get you out the house fast because:

Why You Need a Stretchy Skirt

1. No ironing required because there are no wrinkles. Ever. It's great on vacation as well as getting out the door faster.

2. The stretchiness of the fabric is moderately shaping and figure flattering. You don't want to get one too small otherwise you'll showing off the unflattering bits. A good fitting stretch skirt will hug the curves in the right place.

3. A stretchy skirt makes it easy to pull a look together. It's great with t-shirts and sneakers or blazer, blouse, and heels. You can wear blouses and tees tucked, half tucked or untucked and it all seems to work.

4. They're pretty affordable and great for wardrobe building. The one I'm wearing is from my first thredUP haul. It was $6.60 and brand new with tags still attached. The retail price was $40 from JC Penney which isn't a bad price either. Not one that I would pay but not too ridiculous. It does have a great palm print and decorative seaming. It's well made and a thicker fabric too.

I've also purchased a few stretchy skirts on Amazon that were roughly $10. I plan to add some Lularoe Cassie skirts to the mix this fall as they are $25 and have very unique prints.

5. Stretchy skirts are for all weather too. They are perfect as a layering piece.  You can even wear one as a slip for additional warmth. They look good with tights or bare legs.

It truly is a wonder. Are you a fan of the stretchy skirt?
