Are we still loving summer? I am. It feels like I'm melting but I wouldn't have it any other way. Hot over cold any day. I spent most of the day indoors except for a quick alfresco brunch. I kept semi cool in a cotton tank and a diy ankara skirt.
I've neglected this skirt all summer. It's a ton of fabric and any clothes that involve ironing go to the bottom of the pile to wrinkle up even more. I felt pretty spry today so I gave it some attention. It's well worth the effort. This skirt has great "twirlability" and some swing to it.
I made it with a very simple one hour sewing pattern but I do have some some patternless skirt tutorials to try:
I wanted a little more height with the length of the skirt so I opted for vintage pumps. Briefly. The pooling of sweat started almost instantly. I'm happy to report the diy replacement heel caps are still going strong. It's so much more convenient to repair them at home.
Have you made your own skirt? What's your preferred method? Pattern or no pattern?
