Thrift Store Outfits // Palm Print Skirt

Do you remember the cerulean sweater scene in Devil Wears Prada? Basically, editor Miranda Priestley schools Andy, her assistant, on the trickle down effect of fashion choices. I always think of that scene when I thrift something currently on trend. Say hello to my 80s palm print skirt!

This type of a-line skirt with pockets and side buttons is my favorite. It's comfortable and effortless for everyday. Best of all, it was under $2. The tropical palm skirt received a unanimous yes nod from the thriftanistas at the mirror. No easy feat. It was a tough crowd. I got strange looks from the fruit medley skirt.  It's a little tight but the side button can easily be moved over.

My mom gave me the front tie denim skirt for my birthday. It's exactly what my closet needed. It's soft, lightweight, and perfect for this heat! I front tie my button up shirts a lot and now I have one with long ties specifically suited for that purpose.

I decided on sunny yellow necklace and bracelet to offset the muted pale colors in the outfit. Both pieces are thrifted. Bright colors make me happy. I brought my own sunshine to the rainy (literally and figuratively) day.

Ankle strap shoes are my jam. I definitely have a type when it comes to shoes. They hold my feet in place when I wear high heeled shoes. I guess that love trickled down to my flats too. Gold straps make them fancy, right?

Runway fashion may trickle down but it also trickles up. It's quite possible this skirt inspired the current trend. Fashion repeats so I'm never unsure about wearing old, vintage clothes. If you like it, wear it.

What current trends are you thrifting?
