{Thrift Store Outfits} Vintage Hawaiian Dress

One of the hooks that drew me deep into the world of thrifting was finding vintage. Back then, there was more to choose from. Fast fashion hadn't completely taken over the scene and you could still find true vintage on the racks with ease.

This Hawaiian dress is one of the pieces I found. It's a pretty simplistic column dress with two little button closures at the top. As you can probably guess, it was the fabric that got me. The center print down the front and back gives an otherwise plain dress a bit of oomph.

I wore it all the time back then. It became hard to get in and out of though as I put on pounds from year to year. It was a great treat to pull this one out of the dark corner of my secondary closet and slide it on with ease. While not completely where I want to be, I have worked hard these past three months to reach my fitness goals.

Pulling out clothes that I haven't worn in nearly a decade and being able to fit them is very rewarding. Also, I am glad that I held on to favorites when they should have been in the donation pile a long time ago. I make plans to lose weight every year. This year I was for real for real.

Now I'm able to enjoy one of my favorite thrift finds all over again. It's a great dress for summer. The cotton is soft and broken in. The fit is loose and comfortable. The colors have muted with age but it doesn't take away from the colorful print. It's a keeper. Hopefully, I'll be able to enjoy it for several more years.
